Some odd things about that story. Apparently the kidnapped girl and her children had been living in tents in the backyard of his home all these years. The car he used to kidnap her was also in the yard. The kidnapper's parole officer had visited his home numerous times.
How could this happen without the parole officer or neighbors know what was going on? What stopped the woman from escaping all these years?
The kidnapper was caught because he was stopped by a Berkeley university police officer for handing out religious literature on campus. Wonder what that literature was?

not like it will ever happen but they should let the girl "violate" that POS till he's almost dead, then nurse him back to health just to have the family do the same to him all over again.

it's angers me to no end that this POS was even allowed back into the public. i say put him and his wife into general population and let the prisoners have their fun with them.

had that have been my child, that guy and his wife would never make it to trial.

Words cannot describe how terrible this is. My heart goes out to her.

Kill him and his wife, quickly and quietly, and imprison the parole officer.

Our local news channel used a Google maps image to explain why the parole office never looked at the tents. Supposedly they were hidden behind a dense line of shrubs/trees and some junk, making it look like the yard ended there. And the neighbors just thought maybe these people liked to live in tents. I used to sleep in a tent in my parent's cottage backyard as well when I was a kid, but not all the time, just in the summer.

I'm sure I'd be angrier and more upset if it was my kid, but I'm smart enough to know that taking the law into my own hands would not improve my situation.

I suppose that would depend on how FUBAR your situation is and whether you thought you could get away with a wrist slap. If I thought I could, I'd go for it.

I'm talking about specifically this case. If I got my kid in one piece like her parents did, even after all this time, why would I go and kill the kidnappers and go to prison and not be able to spend time with my kid? That would be just plain retarded. Now if someone just killed my entire family and didn't get a fair sentence, I might consider something like taking the law into my own hands, but I still doubt I'd do it. It won't bring them back and it'll just make my life even more miserable than it already is. THINK before you do something stupid, people.

So am I. Apparently it trashed his marriage and made his life hell for all these years. I know you think that every day is a new day but sometimes, it isn't. It isn't always a video game machine where a quarter gets you a totally new game. Besides, even if he did kill that guy, how many juries do you think will convict him?

You mean the stepfather? I don't think he's the main victim here. I think there would be plenty of juries willing to convict someone taking the law into his/her own hands. It's happened before, though the sentence is usually shorter than it otherwise would be. Still, I'd rather have a loss and be a free man than have a loss and be in prison.

It just means he has to find a couple of mindfawks to sell the jury a story they are more than willing to buy. If it costs me a couple of years to have revenge, depending on the crime, it might be a good price.

The jury cannot legally disregard the law. The presiding judge will typically frame the issue around the law, not whether something was the "right" thing to do. And again, revenge won't bring your lost loved ones back, and if they're not even lost you are just plain retarded for doing an illegal thing and separating yourself from your loved ones.

True but what about a Hung Jury?

So they like to say but I have found revenge immensely satisfying. Of course, like any pleasure, you may have to pay for it but NILIF.
