I'm glad our tax money was used on that one! Oh wait... I'm assuming the dealer will even get paid.

That car only had 89,000 miles. Even if it needed $2,000 in work done to it. A classic car like that would be sold to a collector in heartbeat. This is what happines when we vote in the liberals to run the country. They come up with dumb programs like this one and people rush to the dealers to trade in cars that really dont have any real issues. Did anyone see the one about the Maserati? It had 18,000 miles on it and they killed it. Waste of effort and money to that to a perfectly good running car.

Obsessive maintenance on mine has kept it in pristine shape, 160,000 miles on it, with the valve covers off a couple of weeks ago, the timing chain (replaced at 100,000) is perfect.

It seems I drive the oldest car on the road, when I look, but I still think it's nicer than any of them, even the other Mercedes, Jaguars and BMWs all over the place down here in LA

Amazing....a true idiot traded that one in. Can't believe it. Poor engine....not even 100k on it.... Sounds like it was running quite good prior to the event too....terrible.

The problem is not who is in power in the goverment, both sides are idiots. Democrats create situations that kill tons of nice cars, Republicans start wars that kill just about the same number of people. Take your pick I suppose.

I was out at the Aadland Car parts yard, (one of the biggest ones in LA) in Sun Valley/LA again today, and this year many times), and there I learnt, today, that just like the east coast, the ACTUAL costs to the junkyard, to obtain each "clunker" is only $50.00 for the whole car!!!

You heard me - just $50 dollars.

This 89k mile 560SEC had a wood steering wheel, and complete euro headlights.

The greedy yard owners wanted $200 for them.

But as I paid, 7 years ago, $575 for a set of Bosch euros, with Euro dark amber blinkers, the price doesn't seem too bad.

If the euro lights are undamaged and work, someone should grab them; they are expensive but under market price for good used ones these days; In fact A savvy SEC LA friend today, that I talked to in the yard, would buy them for that price.....

That said ---- I don't like greedheads. They abound in the used Mercedes Benz parts business.

Pick it up cheap as a parts car and do an engine swap...

I it a crying shame that it had to die.

What about a 603 transplant?

They can't sell the whole car. The VIN is branded and the car must be scraped
