That's just sour grapes. If you don't like it, move. Or start your own campain and change the law. If you're right, like you seem to think, how could you loose?

Massachusetts has a law that covers the death of Sen Kennedy. They must hold a special election. I don't consider it a "problem" in any case, since I live in PA.
Yea, we have laws here about replacing OBs Senate seat, look at the games the Poli's went through to PREVENT a special election.
This one I do have to blame the Dems, they dragged their feet, came up with stories etc to prevent a vote, they didn't want any chance it going to the Repubs. But the Repubs didn't help any either.
Then we got the Blago / Burris adventure, that was funny, even I have to admit it.

Remember too where OB learned the trade.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. Obama was elected by voters from entire country not just the city of Chicago.
Maybe McCain/Palin could have won the election if Bush/Cheney campaigned for them.

What I said was where he learned the trade, nothing about how he was elected. But "I" would say there is a connection there.

Remember when being elected was an honor, a privilege.

PS Chas H, don't take this wrong, but I'd love to borrow those rosy glasses of yours sometime.

And I was born and raised here, had my businesses in the area, sold them off a few years ago to get reading for retirement.
But now I can't sell the house, thanks to the Government, so I'm stuck here for a while.

I don't share your idea that Obama somehow bamboozeled the voters. The previous president set the table for him. Did you vote for Bush? If so, you made your bed, now you get to sleep in it.
I don't wear rosy glasses, so you'll need to get them from someone else.

I don't know about you, but I love that the Pelosi poster has ASTROTURF printed on it.

Thanks FreedomWorks foundation! (see term "Astroturfing")

They did. But I must say, the beer prices at my local grocer did not increase. Perhaps they're waiting to jack them up.

Although, I can't say that an additional $.05 on a can of beer will upset me.

I did say it was MY position, and I did not say 'bamboozeled'.

Here we have machine politics, the party decides who you can vote for.
IMHO OB "MAY" have gotten where he is that way.
Although as I have said he is either a political puppet, or found out you can't fight the system, so he's going on vacation. I do like him.

And if you belive you can vote them out, you have to be wearing rose colored glasses. Look at the number of politicians that are in the midst of various corruption trials etc that get re-elected.
Not just here in IL, but nationwide, I am sure there are people here that can provide plenty of examples.

The problem continues something like this, here in IL they have been promising to write campaign finance reform rules.
FIRST it should be an honor and a privilege, WHY do they need rules.
SECOND who writes the rules, they do, think they are gonna kill the golden goose.
Apply this to most political issue's.

With much fanfare they did roll out some reform, even the people that like it admit it's barely better than we had, and most doesn't take affect until AFTER the next election.
But of course taxes take affect immediately.

Further follow up, don't remember who I voted for back then. But I bet it was the lessor of two evils.

AND

The Pres Doesn't run the government, figurehead with some authority.

Pelosi, Frank, Reid ....... and a few others have the reins.

Same here in IL, Blago (who is an ****s) bucked the trend fighting the power brokers, Madigan, Mel (his own father in-law), .... and they hung him out to dry.

Blago caused his own problems, as did Ryan (but I was not an IL resident then).

The president is very much a part of the g'ment. Pelosi, Reid, Frank are also part. The last three would not be where they are if Bush had been a better president.
But I really don't care what you endure in your part of the country. That's a problem only you and your friends can fix.
Getting back to the original whine-
Have taxes gone up?

Blago basically got caught in a power struggle, his fat head thought he could beat the entrenched. He couldn't. I don't think he would have been any better than whats in there now.

In my heart I believe that OB also believed he could change things. I think though he found out he can't beat the system, I just hope he hasn't joined it.
But I think, unfortunately, he is just going with the flow now.

I like that concept. Isn't that kinda like wanting less national gov interference/control/power?

Yes, less national ... would be good. Less government PERIOD would be good.

Unfortunately I consider that a bad attitude.
We are all supposed to work together as Americans.

And like it or not my problems are your problems.
Take CA, and many other states (IL probably one of them), are going to need some form of assistance from the Feds.

So like it or not we're all in the same boat.

Back to the thread, federal taxes are not going up YET, although they have increased a multitude of fees. See thats the spin, they aren't taxes !

And per one of the news shows this morning, we are borrowing 40% of the federal budget TODAY, and the percentage is climbing.
Without drastic cuts, DRASTIC, at the federal level how long can that continue before they have to increase taxes on everyone.
And Politicians cut spending Yea right.

OB promised to bring to light any mis spending of TARP etc type funds. Haven't heard word one. So you believe there isn't a huge amount of Pork in there. Like the money the feds gave IL, part of it is putting a roof on a church, some to fix up a Y?CA (250k). Now I am not saying these aren't worthwhile projects, but they should not be paid for out of yours and my tax dollars.
Particularly when we are so deep in the hole and digging as fast as the politicians can.
