DirecTV customer service

Anyone ever deal with these people? They seem pretty scre*ed up.

They're horrible, right up there with Charter Communications. We have been customers for 8 years, one of the converter boxes died, they want $199 to replace it, and we keep getting mailed offers that are a lot cheaper than what we're paying, but since we're current customers, we don't qualify.

My experience has been totally positive. We've been a customer for almost 20 years. We switched from Comcast Cable because of frequent rate increases--No rate increases since we began our service.

We have a portable dish for use with our RV. I've had to call to get setup information at some campsites, and they have been exceedingly patient and helpful--often staying on the phone for 15 minutes or more as I work thru the menus. They even helped me diagnose a bad coaxial cable, and they were right.

I recently saw the ads for Dish TV and gave them a call, but by the time we got what we wanted on the package, they were as expensive as Direct TV. So we called Direct TV and reminded them we were a long-time customer, and that Dish had some nice offers, What was Direct TV willing to do to keep us as customers? We got all the premium movie channels ( HBO, MAN SHO and the rest) for free for 6 months, plus a second recorder, and a free upgrade to HD when we are ready for that.

I love Direct TV.

Directtv can be hit or miss because they still outsource some tech service to India. When you call with an issue say cancel service and you will be connected to someone with a brain.

By the way, They have a $100 promo on right now. If anyone is going to sign up, PM me and I'll give you my account number and we each get $100.

I just said cancel and they didn't seem to care in the least.
