Goodbye Stella

Yesterday morning, I euthanized Stella, my 14 year old Chow Chow. She died in my arms while we looked at each other. Such tough love. God I miss her so.

Sorry to hear about that...

I've never had the guts to look my dogs in the eye when they've been put to rest. The best I have ever been able to do is just keep rubbing them so they know I'm there.

Damn, sorry to hear that! These threads get a little tougher to read as the years keep going by with my now-13yo retriever.

I am sorry for your loss.
I have not had to deal with this as my dog died naturally at 15 and my cat Tom was killed by a car. I do not know how I would be able to look them in the eye as the vet pushed the plunger.

I do not know how my wife will be able to do that for her cats which traveled from Tajikistan to Germany to Poland as part of her being in the Foreign Services and are now 15. I know it will be hard for her to take....

I'm so sorry for your loss ... I know how hard it is to put down a pet. I guess the solace is knowing they went without pain and they had someone beside them they knew loved them. We should all be so lucky in the end. Still, it doesn't make the decision easy, much less the moment you have to carry through with it. I still miss our old kitty Midnight, whom I was with when my family had him put down at 19.

My sympathies. I know how you feel. I had to do that to our two labs many years ago. Dreadful feeling.

The Nugness sends out his thoughts and prayers. The wife and I raised Chow for years before we started raising Sharpeis. Chow have a funny way about them that endears them to people, their like huggable little bears with their own distinct little personalities. I suggest you get your self another Chow and see how the similarities tickle you, and make you happy. Take care friend.

It's the only downside of owning a pet.. I'm sorry for your loss.. We lost our beloved German Shepherd "Walter" back in 2003 and it was hard.

Boy do I miss him..
