I missed a film that was played in class for my Film Appreciation class while in Vegas. The prof said I could rent the movie and just do the response paper. Easy.. right? Wrong. No Blockbuster in the area (50 mile radius) has "Play Misty For Me"

My prof then brought me the movie and I picked it up off her desk today since she was in class. Well I stopped dead in my tracks and went.. awwwww crap..VHS?

I dont own a tape player, I havent used one in a good 10 years, and am not interested in buying a used one to watch the film.

damn obsolete formats. It wont play in my PS3

Wouldn't surprise me if you could find a VHS player for less then the cost of that DVD. Check a few pawn shops in your area, they always have a few lying around somewhere. (Just make sure it isn't a Betamax player

Blockbuster Online? They have their "netflix" clone system or it might be downloadable rental.

I still have a VHS player, just got a DVD player a few years ago. Most of my stuff is still on VHS though.

Sign up for Netflix's free trial. Get disc in the mail 2 days later, watch, return. I would keep netflix for the semester, alot of movies can be watched instantly on your computer or through your Xbox (not sure about PS3).

Unfortunately Play Misty For Me is not available on the Watch Instantly list, so you'll have to wait a couple days for the DVD. I send mine back, wait one day, then get the next movie the next day. I'm close to a distr. ctr., but they seem pretty fast from other people I know as well.

Which is a reason why the folks buying Blu Ray discs are just missing the point about optical formats dying out at a rapidly increasing rate. Of course, the studios don't mind you dropping coin on their wares.
