Just a possibility. I noticed recently that Firefox is showing a bar at the top of the web page, below the browser toolbars, for choosing to save passwords. It's like an option bar. Don't know if this is what yours is doing but it took me a few times before I finally saw it.

It's an easy setting to change I had a few sites that it stopped remembering. Pretty sure I just went in & cleared those sites from the saved list, and it then prompted me to remember them again. |

I had that all set up. I figured out my problem. On the privacy tab I told FF not to remember anything. Once I switched it to Custom (remember history will work as well) the password bar appeared.
