Bought some wheels...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-Silverado-Sierra-Express-OEM-17-Wheels-Rims-Tires_W0QQitemZ390109909511QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5ad45cd207

I need new tires for my truck, and I found this set of wheels with new tires for about the same price as just tires. Now I need to sell the gray painted wheels that are on it.

Nice looking wheels. I haven't heard much good about General tires, but for the price I think you did fine.

They were cheap enough. If the tires suck bad I'll change them.

Nice. General makes an OK tire for the price.

A friend does the same thing you do. You should look on craigslist for deals. A friend got 2 sets of 20" new bodystyle tahoe wheels and tires for $200 each!

I drive an '00 sierra. You should check out some continental contitrac's. I worked construction, and they have an extra layer of something or other (I wasn't paying attention, since my company was paying for them) that resists punctures. They're pretty freakin' smooth, too - they aren't mud tires or anything.

I drove all over a 128 acre commercial site for over a year and they're still in excellent shape and deliver a nice, smooth quiet ride - and this was an area that breaks most rock-drilling equipment, and big rocks were everywhere.

I believe they're 225/70/R16's. I think it was $600 total.

Unless stated otherwise, any question I ask is about my greymarket 1985 380SEL.

I figure I'll run these General tires down and get a set of Bridgestones next. By that time I'll probably be looking for a new truck.

General makes good tires. I have a set of Altimax RT's on my w116 and have a set of General Artic snows for Saab. When the Pirellis on the Saab wear down they will be replaced with a set of Altimax HP.

General does indeed make a good tire....I have the General Altimax HP on my 300E, and they perform great! Especially considering they were only $62 each! Excellent wet and snow traction.

The reviews of the tires on Tirerack were not very good. But I figure people like to complain and they can't be that bad if GM puts them on most of their trucks from the factory.

I will admit that the AltimaxHP's I am using on the 300E do wear fairly quickly.....I've only got around 10k on them and I've burned off almost 35% of the tread (more-so on the front tires) with my aggressive driving style in that car.... I figure if they last two years, great....might just go with good Michelin Hydroedge or something next time, I was being cheap this time around since I had just bought the car itself.

Nice bling!

I had some A/T Generals on old my '86 Suburban K1500 and they held up just fine.

I'm not beholden to any brand, and have tried them all with our sales fleet (vehicles average 37.5K/year-currently a couple Grand Caravans, an E350, two C1500's, a C2500, two Colorados-one 2WD, one 4WD). Mid- to high-rated, mid- to high-priced. In the end there hasn't been any stand-outs, all within about 5K of each other before replacement. They do a mix of laden and unladen driving. Some of our people have their preferred brands or local tire dealers so I leave it to their discretion.

One thing I can't speak for is winter traction since we don't want our salespeople on the road if it's snowing (although we did make some concessions with our VT/NH/ME salesman and bought our first ever 4x4 company vehicle last year).

I figure if they last 40k-50k miles I'll be happy.

I just wanted the chrome wheels, now I'm looking at chrome rear bumpers. I'm going to bling this truck up a bit.
