What's with overly aggressive and easily provoked drivers lately?
This morning on the way to work I encountered what seemed to be a driver who had less brain than normal. When I got into his lane in front of him via my turn signal and with enough space he gave me the right hand gesture of "come on" even if I went in there with ample space.
So being the nut that he was, he went to my left, swerved to the right and tried to drive me off the road as if he's not following his lane but enough for me to lay my horn down for a few seconds and swerve a little to avoid said driver. After an exchange of dirty fingers I just went on my way and did not want to escalate the problem. Took note of his license plate in case it escalated into a bigger situation. THEN as I was following this slow driver on the exit ramp this guy in a GMC Yukon just screamed past our cars and swerved in and out of traffic as if he's late for work (must have forgotten about daylight saving time). Anyhoo thanks for letting me vent. In case you're around Orange County and encounter a late 1990's gold Camry with license plate 4NIA068 and what seems to be a late 30's male, just be careful... Must be one of those days you encounter bad drivers one after another...?

I hardly ever notice aggressive drivers anymore. But when I was driving my 300CD there were plenty of them. Then when I got my white chevy suburban they completely vanished. Then I got the lowered red Volvo 780 Bertone with sport exhaust and they were back in drones; guys trying to race me, cut me off...Now with the silver stock 780 they vanished again...

Good point about the car type and what you encounter. Maybe he smelled my diesel exhaust...? I know some people hate that.

When provoked, I usually just flash a huge smile and a "thumb's up" that sarcastically signifies "GOOD JOB!"

Or look really dumb, does wonders as well. ( ). I told this to my ex girlfriend and gave here an example, she looks at me and starts yelling: "that's the look you give me"

If you really want to see bad driving, get on a bicycle. People seem to drive bad enough when I'm in my car, but when I get on a bike, they all seem to get blinder, dumber, more distracted, and more impatient.

I like to * WIN *
In San Francisco, my wife and I used to run into this kind of thing EVERY day.
Here's a safe, anonymous way to WIN, big time, *every* time: Both the San Franciso bay area, AND the Los Angeles county/orange county basin are the strictest and biggest pollution areas in California, so, next time it happens, grab the license number, make note of the date and time, and when you get to your home or office, REPORT THE VEHICLE anonymously, AS AN observed GROSS POLLUTER!!! As a result, in a couple of weeks, the owner will get a nasty letter from the Bureau of Automotive Repair, DEMANDING he bring the vehicle in for a SMOG CHECK, with dire consequences if he doesn't. Safe for you, anonymous, SHEER HELL for the owner of the car. You * WIN *. Every single time. Revenge is sweet. You remain untouchable and invisible. In San Francisco the phone number was 1-800-EXHAUST and I don't know what it is now, or down in Los Angeles, so look it up. < evil cackle >

I like the way you think.
But it doesn't work quite that way in Nevada. You can call in gross polluters, but if it's reported by a regular Joe, all the DMV does is send you a mildly nasty letter indicating the date and time of the alledged violation, cites the applicable section of the Nevada Revised Statutes, and includes some wordage that goes something like, "If your vehicle does emit visible smoke, please get it fixed." OTOH, if a DMV representative witnesses your smoking vehicle, then you have a choice of either getting a smog check, or taking a little form they mail you to your local law enforcement officer and having them observe it for a minute to see if it smokes. This happened to me when I had a busted vacuum diaphragm on my '71, and it got resolved with relatively little hassle.

21-speed with flat bars and slicks. Corners well, brakes well, but it could use a few more horsepower.

When they really piss me off I usualy stick my gun out the window and unload a mag into them.
People are dumb. Going to school today I had a lady almost hit me. She decided she wasn't going to stop for a red light...but going threw it slowly made it OK. Luckly I saw her in time to stop and avoided an accident. She gave me a WTF look when I beeped. You should call that Camry into the DHS as a suspected terrorist.

I've had worse encounters before, somebody would actually pass me aggressively AND slam on the brakes in front of me. I knew he was going to do that so I already distanced myself (this was a few years ago). Proceeded to also cut me off. Should have brought my camera and taken a photo, I could clearly see the look in his eyes if I took his photo with the dirty finger. If I had a beater and my car was not as nice as it is, I would have done a PITT maneuver on him to get him out of the way (into the curb, not into any other vehicle of course). The act of cutting me off definitely could result in that, because his rear fender would touch my front, all I had to do was turn the wheel slightly. But I think the big sarcastic smile while waving might be best, it definitely throws him off and does not give him any reaction that he wants from me (obviously he wants to provoke me).
