At my university, it seems all you have to do is show up and drool on a test to get a C. Since they want everyone to keep taking classes so the University keeps making money, the bar has been lowered considerably.
I've coasted more or less since my Freshman year, and am sitting with a decent GPA.

I found that the greatest difference in University work and real world work was that if I blew a school test it was just a test and I could always do it over.
In the real world if I blew an assignment at an oil refinery it was on national TV and lots of people were dead and/or injured. I never blew up a refinery, so I guess I passed the course of 35 years in the oil transportation business. And as weird as it might sound I never had a real world test that was as tough as many of those I had in school. |

Yeah I noticed that. If you fail a test no big deal, if I screw up it costs me money, maybe a lot of money if the screw up is big enough.
"Little details" when buying and selling property can often be several hundred thousand dollar mistakes!

Those 'little details' in Real Estate can also take years to make right. Sometimes they can even take years to discover.
At lease on my pass/fail tests I got the results in quickly! |

Yup, I was trying to explain to my daughter that there is no reason to freak out about tests today. The real world tests can have much more significant consequences.

The creative part of my degree comes from the Park school of Communication where I have three different classes that I'm taking. They are basically how to use Pro Tools from the ground up but in the end you're graded on creativity and how your mixes turned out. I already took one of those classes, but I got snuffed out of the advanced level classes because of seniority. In leau of it I've been a sound recordist for my friend's student thesis which has been more of an experience than any class I could have ever taken. Oh I almost had my 300D as the trippy color changing car in the film be the prop. ![]() I'll see if I can stuff it onto youtube. My friend who is the sound designer for the film wanted me listed as first level assistant sound design and boom operator, but I got snuffed with all of the other gaffers in the movie Regardless I don't care it was a lot of fun. I used to have to maintain a 3.0 to remain academically eligible for my Television-Radio Production program, now they lowered it to 2.5 for some odd reason. Honestly who cares since I dropped to 3.003 after my calculus class last semester. I'm happy I can now take classes that in my book that are incredibly difficult without worry about losing my ability to take my internships in the Los Angeles satellite campus. I just woke up from a 4 hour nap. I was powering through my day on coffee and the exhaustion set in during my viewing of the ACP: Animation at around 5 o'clock. Now time to reset my circadian rhythm.

Well, Kevin got home from U. of louisville last night around midnight. Not sure what schedule he has been living on the past week, but wife and I had pretty much cold water showers this morning around 5:30am. Seems kid took a long, hot shower right before he went to bed.

Had 1 Monday, 1 Tuesday, 1 Wednesday, and 1 Today (Thurs)...
The problem is this last one is a PITA. Well, made my 2 pages of notes, and reviewed. Lets see what happens. Till tomorrow after the test!

Well, the score is in for the semester: 1 C, 3 B's, 1 A.
Problem is it takes the kid awhile to figure out how to take individual teacher's tests. First test of class always is bad, really hurts for rest of the semester. Mother of one of Kevin's friends has a saying: C's get Degrees. |
