Finals Hell Tomorrow

Well here it is guys. I have been studying all night with crazy doses of procrastinating thrown in between. I have my three finals tomorrow. Sound tech, physics of sound, and aging studies

Dale knows exactly what I mean when I say i'm scared about it. No amount of studying will prepare for the hell of Don Tindall's open note doomsday tests.

Physics of sound is just a watered down version of sound tech so maybe i'll be good.

Aging studies, why did I take this class?

Ugh At least i'll be done by 4 pm tomorrow.

Don't worry about it, that has always been my theory with tests.

I'm a horrible student though, can't beleive I have made it this far...

Good luck man!

I'm currently writing one of two 50-ish page final papers for my classes due Wed. I haven't been on OD in forever, I must really be desperate for distractions.

Yeah, my son had a paper for Soc. due yesterday and the final in the same class. 50% of his class grade in one day. Oh and this is the guy who never gives back the tests or tells you what you got wrong so you get to guess. Had a couple of exams last week and the other three yesterday and today. Got a B in communications and squeeked a C in Statics, but he wants to retake the class anyway next semester. As long as he gets good enough grades to keep the scholarship going, I am happy.
I know this is a tough, stressful time for all of you in school. Good part is, it only lasts about a week. Good Luck!

You took aging studies because you figured it would help you out with Geezer Mercs.

Good luck!

I still Remember the Father Guido Sarducci BA degree. The curriculum is based on everything you remember 5 years after graduating from college.

The sound classes should be a piece of cake. Those types of classes were the only ones I got any kind of good grade in school. It's a lot of logical stuff.

WTH is "old people studies" anyway?

That's what I don't miss about school! I was a terrible student during a good portion of my undergrad years. I redeemed myself in grad school, but I still had some of that procrastination habit and was still easily distracted.

On a side note, I'm thankful for what I've learned in my undegrad, but it's almost like high school compared to grad school. It's extremely focused and if you thought you had a lot to read then, grad school made those readings seem like child's play. Anyway, I'm glad that's all done.

I can relate to what you are going through. Best of luck!

Gerontology is the study of the physical, mental and social changes in people as they age.

I'm a program manager at a Region Agency on Aging.

Physics of Sound is easy. It's high school level wave problems. Sadly it is a HUGE 101 type lecture class and the professor has been famous for adding in extra material not covered in his lecture notes or the book readings.

The other class was much harder. Sound Technology is this incredibly over encompassing class that covers live sound design from the bottom up. I really enjoyed the class, but I know i am going to probably take a hit on my GPA because of it. I'm waiting for Dale to chime in. My grade however before the final was 85% so let's see how much damage I can do

I made the mistake last semester of taking a calculus class for my minor in economics. My major doesn't require any math or science (sound production), but I felt calculus is an important subject regardless. It covered my natural sciences requirement but my B went down to a C- because of the miserable final.

Old people studies is my Introduction to Aging Studies class. I wrote one of my research papers on elderly men and automobiles

85 isn't bad... Is your grading 100, 90, 80, 70 or 93-100, 85-92, etc...?

Most of my sound classes in school revolved around hooking things up properly, types of signals and level matching, etc...

I can't remember actually being "taught" how to design sound. It's more of a "here's the show, now make the effects track and the music track..." type of thing. This was back in the day of multi-track magnetic tape so we had to get creative when layering effects.

Almost exact summary of my college experience so far.
