I still marvel at the speed of the bus.

Left RDU and took exactly 49 minutes to land at BWI. 1 hour on the ground, including de-ice, and 47 minutes later it lands in Islip.

It takes me 10 hours to drive that route.

It should be like the bus. Get there, buy your ticket, get on. Quick and simple.

I agree.

I do remember those days.
Sad, they are gone.

My latest experience with SWA would dispute that statement.

Security outbound took 10 minutes.

Security on the return took 2 minutes.

Door to door in under 5 hours with minimal hassle.

I'll agree with that.
If I ever have to catch a hop someplace, it's always SWA when possible.

It seems that even the TSA folks in the SWA terminals are a bit more relaxed than any of the others. And you know how I feel about the TSA folks.

About what’s gone:
I remember the days when there wasn't any security at all. Not even metal detectors. And back then, your family and/or friends could walk you to the gate and be standing at the gate when you got off.
Now, at some airports, they don't even allow them into the baggage pick-up areas.

Prior to 9/11, anybody could go through the checkpoint. In fact, they encouraged it because all the food was inside.

Now, if you're not a passenger............you starve.

I do get quite a laugh at the moron who checks the ID and boarding pass. The fool studies the driver's license like he's going to memorize it for a test. How long can it possibly take to determine that the name matches the boarding pass? F'in idiots.

LMAO
I never really gave that much thought... Until now.
That is so true.

Maybe next time I'll ask the moron what my name is when they hand my ID and pass back to me. I wonder how that would go over.

$100 says they wont have a clue.

That just means you're driving waaay to slow.

I'd ALWAYS rather drive. Last time I flew was 1.5 years ago, and I got to spend 14 hours in Atlanta airport because TWO PLANES IN A ROW had major mechanical failure (entire HVAC system on Plane 1, BOTH reverse thrusters on Plane 2).... they are doing minimal shoddy maintenance. I'd rather ride in my car, where I do the maintenance and know if there is a failure, I can coast to the side of the road, not fall from the sky sitting helpless in a seat.

As for that video/song, it is awesome!!!

it IS the bus. due to the price wars, the greyhound crowd is now in the air. all the glamor and glitz of the early days of air travel is gone. people dress in flip flops and cut offs. might as well put a "Greyhound Bus" sign up at each terminal.

"all downers and outters headed to Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, line up with your sack lunches and prepare to board."

forget it.
