I believe that those who excel in physics are truly some extraordinary beings. "Simple" (or so it seems) concepts which requires that extra something in the grey matter to make it all click. Sadly lack such aptitude though I did manage a credit in school. The male gender seems to be able to grasp this subject better somehow... though I mean not to offend any female physicists.

I'd pack up and buy a 1 way ticket to Melbourne. Buy a nice house overlooking a hill with an inbuilt spa. Find a spare job to support me at Uni while I study medicine.

I run the digital imaging and film room at a printing business, so i get to correct all the bad photography - like its my fault the client shot out of focus at too low a resolution, locate missing fonts, deal with yesterday's due dates, lying sales staff, mentally disturbed graphic designers and gestapo-like production managers (ve haf veys of making you print).

nonetheless, i like my job, the challenges it entails and look forward to quitting time and the drive home in the mb!

What a wonderful group of resumes! Here is my contribution to this topic…

I have worked since about 1981 with computers in one capacity or another. Since 1988 I have run my own company as a field service technician and network consultant. I have been extraordinarily fortunate. I work for many of the oldest mid-sized companies in town. Most of my long term customers are family-owned businesses. For some reason they seem to really like both me and the work I do. I have done something or other with about 700 or so networks & businesses over the years and still work for many customers that took me in during my first years working in Seattle in 1988. I have written 3 books on computer stuff back in the early ‘90s. In the last 3 years I have taken on only 1 new customer, and had to reluctantly turn down many companies for work opportunities. When I have to turn someone down, I always devote an hour or so of free consultation to them anyway, to be sure they go foreword with useful information.

It is ironic that I have my own business as back in ’88 I interviewed for about 60 jobs and never got hired. In other words, I started my own business because I couldn’t get a job. The real irony is that about 30% of the companies that didn’t hire me, ended up hiring me as a consultant.

The best part of my work is that I have had seemingly endless opportunities to share on-going relationships with many motivated people from a number of different professions.

Long term I hope to return to writing as I have ideas partially developed for another 3 computer books and a couple of fiction books. I just never seem to have the time to devote.

I am in U.S. Air Force and have been for the last 11 years. I am an Avionics/Engine istrumentation specialist. The systems I work on tell the pilots where they are and where they are going. Also what altitude they are at, basicly everything related to aircraft navigation. Started out working on the infamous B-52 bomber, then a cargo aircraft, C141 and now I work on a KC-10. The KC-10 is a military version of the commercial DC-10s the airlines use.
