bugatti maintenance
Folks,
I found a site.... www.autoblog.com that has a bunch of interesting news on cars coming out. They just posted a piece on the maintenance costs of a Veyron.... Holly crap, they estimate six figures per year! Tires last 2500 miles ( at $30K a set) and so forth. Anyway, enjoy this article 'cause it makes MB seem inexpensive to maintain. http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/17/bugatti-veyron-running-costs-so-spendy-cheaper-to-use-a-private/ Chuck |

How much for a set of (4) tires ?!?!
We just put a set (6) 210+ mph Michelins on a Cessna 750 for under 7K. What kind of tire set cost 30K??? And don't tell me it's the mounting costs. They're right. It is cheaper to use a private jet.

The reason the tires cost so much is they are made just for that car, Bugatti spec'd them from Michelin, so low production volume means a lot more cost.
So the Bugatti's upkeep costs are about on par with basic storage and upkeep for a similer cost boat. It looks like a Veyron will run you $50k a year plus anything that breaks. Thats about what it would cost me to own and lightly use a 55 Hatteras for a year. $10k for storage, $20k for fuel, $20k for maintenance.

Wheels every 10,000 miles? That's insane. They're probably making these ridiculous suggestions so they can dishonour warranty coverage at a later date - "sorry your engine blew up, but since you didnt' change those wheels at 10K you're on your own".

Okay...the tire replacement costs and interval is already ridiculous, but the article doesn't explain why Bugatti recommends that the WHEELS get replaced with the tires as well!!!
FOR WHAT!!!???

Actually parts were more expensive for my kid's Eclipse than for my cars.

The wheel one doesn't make sense, you don't have to do that on the F1.
You also have to remember that no one drivers cars like these, if they go through a set of tires a year thats high mileage. Even Jay Leno said about the running costs of his Mclaren F1, he was like you could have a beach house in Malibu or this.
