What was your experience with the X5? Like electrical gremlins?

That's your prerogative, though I fail to see what the X5 has to do with an E36 M3.

Electrical yes, along with some motor and design issues. Mine, and most others, shred axle boots on a regular basis, and the rear wheels wear unevenly, which can't be corrected. I also had a leak in the intake which caused the car to start drinking coolant, along with various electrical issues.

It just left me with a bad feeling for the whole brand. I understand it shares little with the M3, which do seem to last a while and withstand abuse.

I'm sure Chad could do something with this in an AMG flavor.

Yes, but still a lot of radar used here in Ontario. I think - not 100% sure - that with lasers, the officer has a narrow focus and must hit your car directly, whereas radar offers a wider beam, easier to target.

The Valentine One, installed stealthily, is the way to go, IMO, if you own an AMG. That and a track pass for your local racetrack.

I saw a 2004-2007 E55 the other day. He was behind me, and driving normally. The road opened ahead to three lanes (each way) and he gently pulled out and passed a car or two to get in front. Once the light changed and the road ahead was fully open (and clear), he opened it up. I haven't seen a car disappear from view that quickly in a long time. The last thing I saw was his brake lights, on for quiet a while...

@Tyler - I find naming cars is best if either a name jumps out immediately, or you wait and a name will present itself at the proper time. Either way, that is a beautiful AMG!

Yeah, LIDAR apparently isn't cheap-- I live in California and i've only seen Highway Patrol use LIDAR. And you're right. It is point-to-point narrow beam, rather than spread.

First time I discovered factory installed radar detection was in my Uncle's 90s-era Saab. That put a grin on my face!!

Chris, just to wet your appetite for that blown V8.

When you get yours, you are going to HAVE to let Brabus or Kleeman make it a bit more special. I'm pretty sure they can find another 200 or so hp to help you get over those hills when the AC is on.

Sweet ride! I almost had my hands on a black C43 my neighbor was selling. Being at school, I didn't know he was selling it until it was sold

One of these days I think I'll end up with a 129 SL500, 500E or something like this

I guess the really important point is you get the joy of ownership regardless of nomenclature, but then again, a well fit car name has it's place in this world, and on this forum.
OK, now a call to action for Chad. We need the Scarlet Letter, "AMG" style please!!
