FWIW Borat made fun of jews, gypsies, black people, women, rednecks, and gays too. Its not like retarded people (what am I supposed to call them?) were singled out.

Rush Limbaugh to the rescue and to clear things up . . .

I think the big news is the crack-up going on. Our political society is acting like some giant insult's taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards retards. I mean, these people, these liberal activists are kooks, they are loony tunes. I'm not going to apologize for it, I'm just quoting Emanuel, it's in the news.

Just Stop Driving Your Toyotas

Stop driving it. Take it to a Toyota dealer because they believe they have a fix for it." LaHood later clarified. "What I meant to say was if you own one of these cars or if you're in doubt, take it to the dealer and they're going to fix it."

White House to Sen. Chris Bond . . . WTF, Dude?

Gibbs said that Bond was told in a Monday briefing that Abdulmutallab was again cooperating with law enforcement officials. After that , Gibbs said, the senator continued to erroneously say that the suspect had stopped talking after being read his Miranda rights.

Quitting Smoking is Hard, the Weight Gain, The Swearing . . .

After the interview ended, Gibson, drinking coffee, gave the reporter a thumbs-up before muttering a loud-and-clear "a--hole" right into his mic with the satellite feed still rolling.

No sweat. I know most people don't mean to offend. I just feel I owe it to my son to speak up when I see/hear it.
I just came across this:

Now, I'm no high paid political strategist or consultant, but didn't Mrs. Palin just miss a huge opportunity?

Just spitballin' here, but if she had called for Limbaugh to resign, as she did Rahm, she would have shown consistency on the issue; of course RL wouldn't have any option but to apologize on air, meet with some representatives and apologize some more; then she rolls into the Nashville convention speech, having put Rush in his place, something that even GOP Chairman Steele hasn't been able to do; then you start the coronation music . . .

As far as I know, Rush is not elected to any office, nor is he a government appointee.
If people stop listening to him, and his ratings diminish, he will go away.

I must agree with the remark about people should stop going to Vegas and throwing their money away at casinos.

I think they should come to Oklahoma and throw their money away at one of our casinos.

The Choctaw tribe has a very nice one just south of Durant....

Nevada is weird IMHO. I once flew to Seattle and had to do a stopover in Reno (!?!). It was about all I could get for less than major bank at that time. Holy crap, the airport was like a casino. I had a hard time finding my connecting flight.

In Vegas (and elsewhere in NV) it's legal to drug people and rob them. Vegas is a big leech on the nation.

Governor Perry (TX) Aide Slips "R-Word" But Not Asked to Resign.

Perry campaign spokesman Mark Miner said [last] Thursday: "It was an unfortunate choice of words and the governor is extremely disappointed."

LA School Principal Sends Kid Home For Wearing Colts Jersey

School principal Steve Vampran had given students permission to wear a Saints jersey to school instead of their school uniforms. But Frost, who moved to Louisiana from Indiana three years ago, came to school wearing a Colts No. 29 Joseph Addai jersey.

Frost said Vampran told him he hadn't authorized students wearing Colts jerseys and asked "If you like Indiana so much, why don't you go back?," according to the Times-Picayune.

Tea Party Objects to Captain America Investigation

In issue No. 602 of Captain America, "Two Americas, Part One," Captain America and his partner The Falcon, a black superhero from New York City, stumble upon a protest rally in Boise, Idaho. They see scores of protesters carrying signs that say "Stop the Socialists!" and "Tea Bag The Libs Before They Tea Bag YOU!"

In other responses, editor in chief of Marvel apologized and said the reference was a stupid mistake . . . note he did not use the "r-word."

But Mom, All the Other Warlords Are Doing It!

Chechen president Ramzan Kadyrov has unexpectedly swapped his gun-toting hard man image for that of a compliant mummy's boy after he performed a major policy turnaround at his mother's insistence

Politics aside, speaking strictly as a parent of a kid with delays, she dropped the ball big time. Even if one were to believe Rush's claim of satire, she still had a great opportunity to continue "teaching." I know in our Ds circles there were a lot of parents who held her in fairly high regard, as much as a parent with a high profile opportunity to speak for our kids as anything else (not necessarily politically), my wife included. To say they are disappointed is an understatement.
