Im thinking of getting a mid to late 90's C220 or C230. Anybody have one or know of its reliability or anyproblems they have?

Like most things previous maintenece will make or break them. I have heard pretty good things about them but no personal experience. I am sure others will help more.

I had a 99 C280 that was totaled. Impressed me enough where I decided to upgrade to the 99 E300.

Damn thing saved my life. I got T-boned by someone in an 04 Honda Civic at 55 or so. My seat was about 12 inches at the end of the day. She fared worse than I did.

For the W202, your best bet would be the years of the last major update, 98-2000. Pretty much all the "kinks" were worked out. By this age, carefully inspect the suspension parts and the transmission (fluid isn't lifetime) for service.

My wife's uncle has got a 2000 W202 diesel with about 500,000 kilometers on the clock. I get the impression (but could be wrong!) that he doesn't really go in for servicing all that much but as far as I know it hasn't let him down. I think he plans to sell it on when it tops 600,000 kms... I've been a passenger in it a couple times and it seems in great shape despite the apparent lack of love!

Not here you don't. Best you can do is a W210 diesel and that is up to 99.

Ive aways been leary of the trannys and plan on servicing it as soon as I get one but do they ride good? how are the electricals? I guess Ill test drive on and see I like it or not
