cordless headphones for a TV

I got my mom a pair of Sony TMR-IF240 cordless infrared wireless headphones to watch TV (she is hearing impaired). They worked beautifully in her house connected to a LCD flat panel TV. I just moved her in with me and tried to connect them to a plasma flat panel TV. All I get is buzzing. Unfortunately, the manual is at her home in another state.

I tired connecting the AC power to a different outlet and I tried replacing the RCA cable. Neither made any difference. Any ideas?

Here's a manual for a later model, might help.

Thanks, Chas. None of the troubleshooting info helps. All I get is buzzing.

I took them upstairs and conencted them to a different flat panel LCD TV. They work beautifully. So I know they work. Unfortunately, I need them connected ot the plasma TV.

There must be something that's causing interference near the plasma TV. This TV is conencted to a digital cable through a DVR. I also have a VCR and DVD player/recorder connected to the plasma TV or DVR.

I have. Shows diagrams on how to connect everything from timing lights to food processors. But nothing about headphones.

You need a line filter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_filter They run around $40-$50. If you want to go the cheaper route, pick up some shielded cables. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shielded_cable

Try connecting each side separately of the audio from the tv. Or try connecting to the audio out to the vcr or dvd.
