iPod Shuffle Rant

Total crap! The headphone buds pop out so I need the rubber thingies. They crackle, cord is too short, the song selector loses fxn'ality and for $90! I'm on my second shuffle in 16 months and it's close to useless.

Anything better? I use it while running.

It's hard to tell if you're having issues with the Shuffle or your choice of earphones. The ones that come with the iPod are generally considered awful.

x2

Also:
$90.00 for a shuffle ?!?
My 4th grader brought one home as a prize for selling fundraiser cookie dough to his family. And I can assure you he didn’t sell that much cookie dough.

It seems to work fine for us. Though we seldom use it. We all have Nanos and Touches that we have had no issues with. Sounds to me like your issue may be more in the headphones and not the unit itself. We never did care much for the ear buds. We usually go with “aftermarket” headphones instead. Some nice ones can be found pretty cheap at Radio Shack.

I use a Rave MP, it also has an FM tuner and was $30, I use it with the "marshmallow" type isolation earbuds from walmart, they were $20. I use this at work instead of regular earplugs, have been for a few years now with good results although I have mangled the headphones a few times and even launched the player across the shop. It survived just fine though.

It has the integrated controls so what are the options? I thought it was proprietary.

There are non-Apple earpieces that have the controls. I've heard compliments for Shure and Klipsch, but there are quite a few that are out there.

My Sansa goes everywhere with me...been crushed, dropped, submerged, still works great. Picked one up for my father and gf, they both love them too. Refurbs come in around $15 if you can find them (mine is refurb). I would take one over am ipod any day.

Actually, I can see the attraction of the current Shuffle for use while exercising, it's certainly small, virtually weightless and portable . . . the only downside is that it really is a choking hazard.

The ipod itself seems ok, so I'll try some no earpieces. Thx for the info.

Sony Mp3 player

Other models are available.
There are great HiFi earbuds out there. I personally use Sennheiser Headphones with it.

Those Sony MDR V-150 are also very good and less

How do you run with earbuds? I can hardly keep them from falling out when I walk. Hate the damn things.

My shuffle that I got as a gift has been great.
