How to survive hyper inflation...

Given the recent developments in our country especially the out of control spending and the Fed's fetish with printing money out of thin air whenever they please I've been wondering if there are some lessons that we should be learning from the nations that have gone through difficult period of hyper-inflation (Germany in 1923, and more recently Argentina, Zimbabwe etc).

Wonder what the hyperinflation survivor kit for ordinary people should include...? Some purchase gold to protect their investments, but what about our daily lives (groceries, household items, etc) - wonder if there are things that once can do to protect ourselves and our loved ones during those times... what do you think?!

I guess you could stock up on things that don't perish that you need often... that would free money to other items in the future...

Are there many investments that adjust with inflation directly + interest?

When the deflationary environment the country is experiencing stops - I'll give it some thought.

An old Mercedes, 10 barrels of vegetable oil and 60lbs of NaOH still sitting in the back yard, left from when I quit making biodiesel. At least I'll be able to afford to drive around for a while.

In inflationary periods real estate is usualy a good investment. I would also recomend silver and gold.

I invest only in real estate and guns; IMHO I can't go wrong with either.
