Anybody buy from these folks? I am wanting some Toyo's for my Miata but my favorite tire store does not have them.

Experiences good or bad?

How are they going to fit and balance them? What happens if you need to make a claim on a tire, you cant email it to them. I would try and find a store to deal with. At least then you can go and vent your anger at some one if there is a problem.
Its a pity there isnt a tire chain associated with this site, or maybe there is !

Hey Tom, I used them about 8 years ago, but I bought a set of wheels and tires at the same time. They shipped them all mounted and balanced.

I believe you can have them send the stuff to an authorized installer the way TireRack does.

You realize that he is just wanting tires so he can have them shipped to him, just like tirerack and he mounts them. Yes, you can go with a store but you pay much more for that privilege. I buy it with Amex. There is a problem and you don't want to deal with it, I let Amex dispute it with you.

The thing with ordering tires-only, is that what you save, you offset with paying for shipping, then getting a shop to mount & balance them. Wheels & tires are a different story. Back in January, I got the Discount Tire next door to price match Tire Rack on General Altimax HPs. Got 6 tires (4 for the Sentra & 2 for the Sonata) with road hazard, mount, balance & valves for $645. Getting the tires from Tire Rack with shipping would have been $520 alone without the mount/balance/valves/road hazard. Not only did I get all the warranties, but saved the $80 shipping as well...

If you only need tires, what do you do? You can go to the local shop and they are quite often higher and you also pay the taxes.

Well again, they price-matched Tire Rack. I merely walked in and told the manager that I'd like to give him my business since he's right next door but Tire Rack's prices were substantially cheaper. Without a blink, he said he'd match their prices. And I paid $645 for all six tires WITH tax. With money being tight, people are putting things off as long as possible. I mentioned to a neighbor that his Camry was in desperate need of tires six months ago. He finally got them after tread separation on 2 of them a month ago. I'm sure most any tire shop - other than Sears and the likes because prices are set by corporate - would be willing to make a deal for your business. I wasn't only a service advisor in my day. I managed a Goodyear store or two as well. I doubt anyone on here isn't a talented enough shopper to do the same..

I broke it down this way. Say I got the 6 tires shipped to my apartment at $520. Add Tire Rack's road hazard and it would have been another $70. I would then have to stuff them in each car and find tire shop to mount & balance them at a reasonable rate. The going rate in my area seems to be $20+ if you didn't buy them there. Even if I managed to find a $10 per tire shop, that's $60, so I'm up to $580 total - AND I did not purchase road hazard from Tire Rack at that price so I'd have been doomed if I blew a tire. I ultimately got the same tires, with better coverage at pretty much the same price as the tires alone. And a warranty claim is as close s the nearest Discount Tire. Plus they send you email alerts for rotation. Just got that done today.

I have used tirerack ALOT! Just got tires fro SEL from them about a month ago. Had son take them to be mounted/balanced. When I was doing some brake work this past week, I noticed the date code in the sidewall. Tires were a year and a half old and I just got them! Since tires seem to have a five years fuse built into them anymore, I am more than unhappy. Then again, I may use them on the car at StarFest this year so they might not last until the five year mark.

I have bought a boat load of tires from Tire Rack and had happy results. they did not offer the Toyos I wanted for the Miata to autocross in the rain on.
