Mercedes G4's for sale... Hitlers?

I ran across, at a site called Autoblog.com, a story about three Mercedes G4 autos for sale. These are the six wheel monstors that Hitler liked to use when touring across country.

I don't know if these belonged to Hitler since I think they really 'belonged' to the German Army. Hitler's use of these cars, or any car, is of no importance to me.

The supposed asking price for the three, a touring car, a radio car and a luggage car, is $3,300,000 each or $9 mill for a package deal. Not that I am planning on buying any of them, but if I were I would be out of luck since I cannot find out who is offering them for sale or where they are located.

Anybody know anything about this story and/or who to contact if one were interested in looking at them?

Well unless their is some documentation their really is no way to prove what cars Hitler used or didn't use. They could be Hitlers cars, or Himmlers, or any number of high ranking officials.

Supposidly one of Hitlers cars is in Canada and I think that one has been ID'd by photos of him riding in it in parades.

For example if you compare the two photos I don't beleive this to be the same car. But this picture was taken in Poland in 1939, the one for sale might be a later car.

This car seems to be the same one that shows up in the photo in 1939. I do not beleive its the same car thats for sale, the running boards are different.

I think there are a lot of cars that could be 'Hitler's'. He owned a car in the same sense that President Obama 'owns' his.

I know someone who does serious research into military vehicals and is interested in seeing if they can have some access to the autos. First they have to know where to find them.

The lore on these cars is that only three were left, maybe four. Now three show up out of nowhere. One is supposed to be one used in 'Hogan's Heros' and may well be. Hogan's Heros was a Bing Crosby production and Bing loved Mercedes to the point I can see him buying a G4 and charging it off to the production company.

By the way.... Whunter... Thanks for the link!

No buyers regret or second thoughts...

Not interested in selling...

But one of these would be so perfect on a trailer behind it.

Very Cool

Very Rare

Potentially Very Interesting Stories

But who the hell appraised them a $3,300,000 each? Honestly $200,000 seems like a stretch. I guess they are rarer then gullwings...

I'd own them though. Even if hitler owned them.

The pistol pockets are a nice touch, never know when you need to shoot back at partisans! I guess they had a pretty good 4wd system.

The dual rear axles have always intrigued me. Obviously not for weight issues. Traction, as they are all driven?

One interesting piece of history on the G4 is that Mercedes tried for years to sell them to the German Army. The price was so high the Army turned them down as they were just not, in the Army's opinion, worth the money. There were other vehicals that would do the same job for less built by Skoda, in the Czech Republic, and the Army knew that Skoda was on the list to become a German factory someday.

But.... One day Hitler visited the Mercedes factory and a few of the cars just happend to be parked where he would be sure to see them. Hitler though they were worth the money (since he was not paying for them) and the ones that were built were still paid for out of the Army's budget.

About the only War Era Mercedes that are rarer than these are the armoured cars Hitler ordered built for what they called 'The Big Heads' after the assanation of Hynedric Rinehart in Prague. There were supposed to be seven of these built on older SSK chassies since they were the only ones that would carry the weight of the armor and still look like a car.

Only one of of these, a coupe, is known to exist and it is owned by the Czech Republic. It is currently located in Prague and is still in pretty good shape since the RiechProtecktor, or whatever he was called then, refused to use it.
