What question am I dodging? No one asked what the refinery produces. If you know, and I doubt you do, you could simply tell us and bask in the light of correctness. But you have not told us, so I am going to assume you know as much about this as you do about entitlements driving the budget deficit.
BTW there's another refinery on Puget Sound.
Temperature compensated pumps are only meaningless to those fellating the oil industry. The API has admitted they cost the American public money, but blow off the use of such pumps as not cost effective or some such crap. Meanwhile, these pumps are commonplace in Canada where there is much less fuel sold and the cooler ambient works on favor of the fuel vendor.

Sorry to quibble with you but it was never proven that he actually lost the election.
He succeeded to Bush.

You dodged the question at hand and brought up some meaningless junk about gas pumps. The location of refineries is not pertinent to the discussion, please try and follow the thread and not wander off. However, most refineries are near the coast and the point was that TRANSPORTATION IS A HUGE FACTOR IN PRICES. Got it?

The point of what a refinery produces is meaningful since you were implying a couple of NW refineries actually exist and somehow makes the transportation cost argument incorrect. But since you don't know what they produce, your whole response is uninformed and moot.

The issue of correctly measuring liquid volumes at pumps HAS NOTHING to do with the topic at hand. There is fraud in measurement in lots of places, and if you knew anything about liquid metering, you would also know how inaccurate they are. Why do you think most oil is measured by recording the depth in a tank and not by electronic means?

Metering natural gas is even worse due to the compressibility issues involved (pressure and temperature).

well (no pun intended) - when it's all said and done, we would be wise to use less oil and develop alternative means of energy, regardless of how much oil is left. a company that this board (one assumes) likes, daimler-benz, has spent a billion, i believe, on fuel cell technology. and - despite the W140

- i do think they are a little smarter than the average bear. like yogi. or am i just being naive, and we are either doomed.. or up to our ears in oil, as one of our posters has suggested.

This is the reality. Wether we run out of oil or pollute the environment there has to be a better way.

Unfortunately for now no alternative is without it's downsides.
We've seen Ethanol, unless done just right.
Hybrids, personally may save oil, but a negative for the environment.
Fuel Cells, can be explosive and it take a fair amount of energy(electricity) to produce the hydrogen.

....

But there are a few inteligent humans who should be able to solve the problems.
