Cheap truck rental

I need to rent a truck for a few hours to bring home an engine.

I know home depot rents their little truck for cheaper than uhaul, but are there any other options in metro areas?

Locally?

UHaul has incredibly low daily rates. The flip side is their astronomical per mile charge.

I'd go UHaul - all their interiors are alminum - easy to slide heavy (engines) stuff on, and easy to clean-up, hose out after you're done.

all my friends with trucks moved... my wagon could do it.. but loading it is the problem. I'll post in C-list see if anyone wants to ride my wagon around for a day... certainly getting the better end of the deal ; )

I just called U-haul:
$30 for the day
.70 per mile. I will put about 25 miles on it max.

Yeah, but for what size truck?

That sounds like the big, straight truck. The E350 Ford van configuration I thought would be about $16.00 bucks or so.

The per mile charge is rather high, no?

i asked for a small pickup... he said he didn't have anything.

So far no one has pickups.

Seems like the van configuration would be the most plentiful to me....

The pick up trucks would in my view be in short supply, and the bed is higher on the pick up versus the van config.

BTW - the vans come with a built-in ramp, AS well as being very low.

The van E350 Ford is what I would get a quote on.
