I did met some Canadian vets that liberated my home town; tears would still swell up when they were telling about it.

My granddad who only fought seven days, that's how long it took for the Germans to defeat us, had nightmares about it up to his dead as well. Didn't start telling about it until a couple of years of his death and only to me and a uncle that was married to my aunt. Some crazy stories, especially the ones he told about his time of hiding after the defeat.

Half the people I talked to didn't know it was VE day either back in May.

For the longest day of the summer I sat on a deck overlooking the harbor drinking until the sun set. Wishing my friends boat was in the water so we could do a booz cruise. Its all downhill from here.

bobby kennedy died on june 6th, 1968, after being shot the day before at the ambassador hotel, following the california primary. i was a child, but remember it pretty well. my parents were republican diehards, but still felt badly for this country.
