Ak74...
Since the 47 is illegal in CT, I'm kind of feeling an AK74 next. I want something I can drag through the mud, fill with crap, and in general beat on and it will still work.:D AK's work like my Sig and mosin, can't kill them. I'm not a huge AR fan because I don't thing they can handle the kind of abuse and neglect other design's can.

Are they legal in FL?
my bad thought you put AK 47 |
What do you plan on doing with such a device?

Take it to the range like all his other devices :) So what is it that makes the 74 legal and the 47 illegal when they are more or less the same thing? (Bullet size?) |
I have a Chek made one. I think its one of the better made ones. I would trust former East block made ones and Yugo made ones.

The Chinese actually made a good AK47, so maybe they make a good AK74...

I'm not going to say all stuff Chinese is crap. They are capable. I do have an early paratrooper model SKS. Its well made. Screw in barrel, fordged trigger guard etc. They were selling by the boat loads back then. Then they started to cheapen them up. Pinned in barrels, stamped steel trigger units and a few other things. Then the Rumanians, Yugos and Russians SKS were imported. They looked very good, but the price was a lot more. Tom |

During the cold war years the Bulgarian quality of AK 47 was rated higher than the Russians. Till 1994 they where making more AK's than anybody else in the world. They used to have a state owned company called Kintex that the only purpose was trading in weapons :) The whole Soviet block army was sorted with Bulgarian AK's. |
For those who have no idea what is being talked about.

At the next gunshow I plan on picking one up. The ownly downside is that the furniture was plastic which I don't really care for, luckly wood furniture is easy to buy on gunbroker. One of the draws for me is that 5.45 is still cheap, I can buy 1100 round spam cans for $120. |
