Wisdom Teeth Removal

Just got my wisdom teeth removed. Kinda sucks, right now... Not much pain so far, but I know I am in for a world of hurt in a few hours.

Read the post surgery guidelines, changing out the gauze every 30 mins with a clean dry set... Dad dropped me off from the doctors office then went to get the pain meds and also came back with like 20 cans of soup (not the chunky kind), 3 packs of jello, among other things. Man, I love my dad!

Watching this test shot thing that they are doing on CNN. They have some cameras and reporters driving into the Gulf of Mexico to show us the oil plumes and such. One guy just said that he has never seen so much "dust" in the water... PLANKTON MAYBE? Also seeing a bunch of sharks swimming around.

He suggested it might be a by-product of the dispersant.... now the audio just went out... now it is back...

BTW, that anesthesia stuff is awesome. You feel so trippy and carefree and you really don't feel a thing even though they are definitely cutting your mouth to pieces to dig out the wisdom teeth. The doctor applied some freezing product to my hand and started the IV for the anesthesia using the entrance he made with a large needle... Fun right!? Did not feel much when the needle went in, but I could kinda feel where it was...

Next few hours are going to be fun...

I had all four removed in one visit, went to work the next day. The oral surgeon prescribed 4 Vicodin tabs, but I skipped it.

I remember having mine done, it was uncomfortable for a couple of days. I scheduled it on Friday to avoid missing too much work.

I had all 4 removed when I was 17. I lived with my dad at the time and he told me I had to find my own way to the surgeon's office.

I drove myself there, got 21 shots in my mouth due to a staff miscommunication, had the teeth removed and they had to dig a piece of root out that broke off.

Then I drove myself home where I found that my dad wanted me to finish hanging 20 sheets of drywall in the house we were building.

I popped two of the clots while bending over to pick up drywall sheets, packed them with gauze and kept working. My dad said that's how a man handles things and called me a wuss.

I wish my dad was as caring as yours.

Same here...second dumbest thing I ever did! Miserable all day at work!

That weekend, decided to make a 3-hour road trip out to an all-campus party at the ole alma mater. Struggled with dry sockets during the week and ran out of meds while out of town...first dumbest thing I did!

Tried to deaden pain with LOTS of alcohol...

All four of mine, senior year of high school, during spring break.

Yup, I didn't have a single thing planned. Yay for impacted teeth

I opted for local anesthesia and was awake for the entire procedure.

It was the oddest sound I had ever heard. That crunching noise with those pliers

But boy those pain killers were nice.

Roll up tea bags and place them between the cheek and gum next to the removal area. the tannic acid in the tea will help control the swelling.
Worked for me...2 lower wisdom teeth, impacted wrapped in nerves. 4 1/2 hours per tooth. Both on same day. Dr filled the deep holes in my Jaw with HCR (Human Cadaver bone ground up and mixed with Epoxy) bonded to my jaw in 3 days and stopped my back molars from dropping out. For pain N02, Novacane during, Motrin and a big doobie before did the trick for me...Perc came afterwards.

My grenadier had his out this week. They knocked him out and he was still loopy (or loopier than usual) 12 hours later. After 1 day of SIQ (sick in quarters), he came back with swollen cheeks but otherwise ok. They gave him some pain meds but he didn't bother taking them.

I had all four of mine done in boot camp. They didn't offer to knock me out, and the local wore off while the dentist was sawing my very impacted lower left wisdom tooth in half. I made him aware of this, and he gave me some more shots, but continued what he was doing without waiting for them to kick in. He did, however, tell me to "Cowboy out." I ignored the pamphlet they gave me about what to eat afterward and proceeded with a normal lunch about an hour after getting out of the chair. This was probably a mistake, and I ended up having to rinse out the sockets with squeeze bottle after every meal. I got some SIQ time, but I don't remember how much, and some Vicodin that I tried once and didn't take the rest of.

I keep looking at this thread and thinking it has something to do with a w123,

Did they have to pull the engine?
