Try taking the card out of the camera and loading the videos from the card directly into the reader itself, by-passing the camera.

I have the same problem with my Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS. It will off-load pics, but not the video. I have an external card reader that handles the videos separately.

No need for cash. :D ;)

Besides, you end up wearing down the camera's battery when you should be using it to record fun things like beer being bought and consumed. Eh?

See if someone you know has one...or better yet, swaller yer pride and head on down to ol' WallyWorld and get yourself a $14 cardreader. Make sure it can read the SDHC cards (Everyone seems to be goin' that route lately!) and if your confuser can handle USBII., then you're as good as gold.

GL!

Canon cameras come with a USB2 cable; iMovie or Final Cut needs Firewire 400 or 800. I believe Canon cameras come with a 4pin firewire 400 port, so all you have to do is get the right cable.

Are you using iPhoto to import, or are you using image capture? Try opening image capture and importing if you haven't tried that.

Exactly.

If iMovie and such require a firewire device, that is pretty dumb, since there are barely any cameras out there anymore that use it....

They don't require FireWire, they work just fine with USB or with a card reader. I can read several different types of USB cameras (still and video) with my macs. I don't know if cannon uses some proprietary software, but I can download just about anything with the built in image capture utility.

First off, if you would have followed the advice someone gave you earlier, you wouldn't have this problem.

You've suffered enough, so I'll solve your problem. You have to finalize the disc before you can import it to imovie. The finalize option can be found on the main menu of the camcorder. You're welcome.

Imagine if PC owners took similar advice whenever they ran into a BSD or issues with Vista device drivers . . . :D

I called Canon and they said to check my version of I movie.
