The American People are F**ked
Edit:
It's been explained to me that the use of word #14 in this rant could be construed as non-complimentary to SOME members. Alteration Forthwith to a more factual and less inflammatory adjective. International Corporate interests,Insurance lobbys,Drug manufacturers,Oil refiners, all manner of republican (Yet to be incarcerated, Untermenschen) and multitude ilk of un-indicted criminal enterprises will prevail in reducing the United States of America to a 5th world cesspool. You think the current financial abortion is bad ? 'Just wait. These Criminal Idiot ass***** will make Bush/Cheney/Oil/Money look like Choirboys. Further Editorializing: Rich and Joe, If y'all could please correct your quote(s) of my reply so as to be in compliance with verbiage substitution in word #14 Thanks!

It's VERY simple. People are either willing to take responsibility for their own actions or they're not. Those who are too wimpy to take care of themselves look to the government to do it for them, thus they are willing to pay taxes to see it happen. More accurately, most of those TAKING from the government, are paying less than they get in taxes, or in many cases no taxes at all.
You're either in the wagon getting a free ride or you're out in front helping to PULL the wagon. I've been pulling HARD on that wagon for over 40 years and I've never known the experience of riding in it. I would rather fall down dead in front of the wagon and get kicked into the ditch than to be one of the chicken $hit$ riding in it. |

In your Utopian view, either you are or you aren't. Up or down, right or left. In the real world, most people lie somewhere in between. Sure there are free riders but not all of the people getting government help are free riders. Larry, are you saying that in your whole life no stranger has ever lent you an unsolicited hand? Have you never been down on your luck?

If you mean lending a hand like giving me a ride when I had a flat tire, sure! If you mean me taking something for nothing, I can't think of ONE SINGLE instance of that. My parents and grand parents helped me by raising me to be responsible and giving me money for doing chores or whatever. My Dad even cosigned for a signature loan when my wife and I bought our first house. The loan was completely and promptly repaid by ME. The context of my statement surrounded taking money from the GOVERNMENT! Outside of my Army pay THAT I EARNED and the GI Bill for my education THAT I EARNED, I have NEVER taken ONE THIN DIME from the government! PERIOD!f I will take care of myself and don't need a Socialist big brother to do so! As far as being "down on my luck?" I don't believe in "luck." We make our own situation. The industry that I worked hard in for twenty years went away. I know many people besides myself that went down with it. Some of them would never stoop to a lower job. I hung on in the industry sinking further and further. It got to a point where there just were no jobs left in it that were practical for me. Did I go get unemployment? NO! After 20 years as a professional, I ended up taking a job as a Fork Truck Mechanic for a year before I was able to start clawing my way up from there. I'm not one to lay around and lick my wounds. I'm also not one that has too much pride to take a nasty, lower paying job rather than sponge off someone else. SO, if you want to call WORKING as a Fork Truck Mechanic after being a Software Industry Professional, then yes I've been "down on my luck" as you put it. |

Larry,
There are about 300 million people in the USA. In your opinion, how many are on the wagon and how many are pulling the wagon? I really would like to know what you think. Just give me an estimate and don't give me a chicken$hit answer either like "I don't know". You have very strong opinions and I want you to back it up. In your view, either you are on the wagon or you are pulling it. There are no people just "walking". Your perserverance, your values, your military service and your willingness to take on any job to survive is admirable. However, your view of the world is very simplistic and very small. So how many are on the wagon?

You can call me a simpleton if you want, and maybe I am. I feel MUCH more proud of myself as a completely independent simpleton than I would if I were one of the chicken $hit$ in the wagon. BTW, I don't consider someone who is really and truly in need of help as one of the Chicken $hit$ in the wagon. Those are the people that the wagon is supposed to be for. The problem is that the government should have nothing to do with the wagon. It should be all of us as a society that take care of those who sincerely need the help. My wife and I have done a LOT to help those truly in need. So does our helping others make us "small?" |
