Maybe the start of a new national trend?

That's something that has been quite popular over here in the Netherlands for some time - they also spay paint the lenses.

The police now hide them in garbage bins and park a mobile speed camera crew near by... they now take the cameras home at night.

Good to know the Government is hiring smart people.

It probably took ten people a couple hours to determine that and fill out the paperwork.

Criminals.

How hard would it be to put a camera in the pole box and either hard wire or xmit the data in real time so that the perp is known? I think technology can solve this. Yea it'll cost more but, what's another ticket or two among criminals?

The county put one of those solar battery powered "Your speed" displays on the road in front of my proeprty a few months ago. I recently noticed it was gone, pole and all. I wonder if a brick went through that. That was jsut a speed indicator. No ticket.

They have a separate remote video here in Tucson for all the red light/speed cameras to prevent exactly this sort of thing. Spoil sports!

We had a guy for a bit dressed in a Spiderman suit, mask and all, who was "silly-stringing" the cameras. It was pretty funny the first time they posted his picture in the paper. The novelty wore off and he quit after about a week. Civil disobedience just ain't what it used to be, sigh.

Once these things have been invented they won't go away until someone comes up with a better idea - unfortunately they are developing it here (probably as I type). They want to fix little black boxes in all cars that may you pay for each mile that you - well here they measure in kilometers - so they want to make you pay per kilometer. I guess they will quite quickly be able to work out your distance and time traveled and thus work out if you were going too quickly...

Up the street in Tempe, Santa's elves were hard at work gift wrapping speed cameras.

Down here a while back there was a guy in a truck with a shot gun doing a bit of target practice on them. Problem is they caught him.
