Me too. I was hoping for an explanation of the hideous Lincoln logo.

Exactly. A friend of mine used to have a BMW. His wife thought that was the funniest line she ever heard.

It is interesting to me to see the change in Logos over the years. Back in the old days Logos were supposed to mean something since a lot of people could not read or they were a personal statement by the company. Now their done by design studios and focus groups.

BMW' s Logo is a spinning airplane propellor. THey made aircraft engines before and during WW 2 and they were and maybe still are forbidden to make airplane engines after that by the Supreme Allied Command. My source on this is an article in 'Motor Trend' from the 70's on the history of BMW.

The Mercedes Logo is said to have been painted on the side of his shop by Benz himself. Under it he wrote 'On This Site a Star Will Rise'. That could just be an old tale, though.

Ford's Logo of the word 'Ford' in a stylized letters came from a toy printing set that Henry Ford had. He was looking for a Logo and he wanted one cheap, so he got his kids rubber letters and ink pad and created one.

Dodge cars during the 1920's wore an intertwined DB inside a Star of David since the Dodge Brothers were Jewish and proud of it. They started building cars after they loaned money to Ford to build his and they discovered how much money there was to be made in the auto business. At one time they owned 25% of Ford and it drove old Henry nuts that they were taking 'his' money and building cars that sold for just a bit more than his so he bought them out.

For a real tangled tale of a Logo look up how Alfa Romeo came up with there's!
