Both Firefox and Internet Explorer open just a tad too large for my screen. I can't see the right and left borders. Since I can't see the borders I can't find the very small "click on" zone to move them in/adjust them. Hints? Thanks

In firefox you can find a zoom in / out function in the View drop down menu - does that help?

If you're seeing what I think you're seeing, then this might work:

1. Press Alt+spacebar. This should display a menu at the upper left hand corner of the window.

2. From that menu, click on Size. This should turn the cursor into a 4-way arrow thingy.

3. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to resize the window.

4. Press Enter to stop resizing.

No help it just resizes the type- not the whole screen.
Size is not highlighted and so it's not an option. Thanks more ideas?

If "Size" is grayed out, then how about "Restore" from the same menu?

If the windows are larger than the screen it sounds like you need to use your screen menu to shrink you screen size.

I looked and tried many of the Firefox menu items to no avail. Where is the screen menu?

I guess davidmarsh is talking about your screen resolution - 800 X 600 for example:-

To change this you need to be looking for screen resolution via your control panel if you are using windows. The best resolution you can achieve is determined by the capability of the screen you are using, and sometimes your graphics card. The graphics card is unlikely to be the culprit though - these days they cater for many resolutions and screens. You only really need fancy graphics cards for gaming.

If you happen to be using a low screen resolution and you can "go one higher" then you'll be able to fit the web pages into the firefox window. If not then I think you are stuck like a lot of people who use older laptops - and those silly hand held web browsing telephones scrolling from left to right

Back when I had my last cathode ray tube (CRT) monitor, the monitor had its own menus - accessible by pushing buttons on the monitor itself - that could be used to tweak the picture size, shape, etc.

If I changed the video mode in Windows (resolution, refresh rate, color depth), then I often had to adjust the monitor settings so that a "maximized" window in Windows fit the screen properly.

I have since moved away from CRT monitors, so that's all a thing of the past for me.

This started a few weeks back- first the screen was a bit small and I could move the left border or right with the "-" and a arrow at each end. Now for some reason the border is off the screen and it's impossible to move the border. I think I'm computer stupid.

Is Restore an option available to you on the menu that comes up when you use Alt+spacebar?

If it is, then you could use Restore, then pop that menu again and see if Size is no longer grayed out.

Duh- thanks. I made the page 1/2 size and moved that bigger. I opened a new browser and it's automatically a bit smaller like it was before these issues, but the border is now within the screen. Thanks everyone, thanks Eskimo
