I got to do something fun

Today I took the first step in a life long dream, I'm helping run a steam Train, It's not one of the massive ones, but it's still a people mover powered by Coal and all, I'll be posting some pics of the engine and cars etc, but I had a blast today learning the controls and next wednesday we're doing a live Fire so this will be awesome

Maybe Doc Brown can give you some of those colored bricks to up your speed a bit?

That sounds like a lot of fun. We hired a young field engineer in the late nineties who was young and single. He and his Dad BUILT steam powered boats as a hobby. They had a small foundry and machine shop. They designed, cast and machined all the parts for their steam engine and built the boats from scratch.

He said no matter how many $100,000 + cigarette boats or any other exotic boat was aroiund, the crowds always flocked to their noisy, smelly steam boats when they were around.

Running a train just sounds like a hoot.

ENJOY!

I would LOVE to operate/build/maintain and old steam locomotive.

I would just like one to last a while - at power plants we place a great emphasis on water chemistry and its control...I'm under the impression that steam trains never had such concerns (and their lifespan reflected it...which is sad)

I would also rock a steam powered boat, but it'd have to be a steam turbine (and I already did my navy time....) and I'm not sure they make them (steam turbines) that small.

Take good care of that machine dude...it will teach you things.

They also did not have the same boiler tube materials that you currently use.

Running the train will be tons of fun. There is one in CT that my son got to drive a few weeks back (with the engineer right there). I've managed to ride the caboose but not the engine...yet.
Enjoy!!

So far so good, managed to take more of a filming expedition and do work behind the scenes sort of thing. Even started a youtube channel chockablock full of video's of all the trains running around. One of the most fun and interesting things I've done so far
