I love when that happens. I was driving to Manhattan a couple of winters ago in my Tahoe and discovered that my windshield washer system had frozen. The roads were sloppy and the windshield turned brown after traveling about 10 miles. I had to stop at a convenience store and buy some Windex to keep the windshield usable. Had to stop six or seven times to spray the crud off.

Just way too much ice for the w/w system. No real possibility of using it.

Wipers caked up with ice and windshield was going to quickly follow. So, max defrost kept the ice from sticking to the windshield and the high winds blew the moisture off. I attempted to reach out and snap the left blade as it reached the maximum sweep to the left, but it wasn't nearly sufficient.

I really didn't want to stop as the shoulder is really treacherous and the SDL might not get back out.

I'd rather drag my privates thru broken glass than have to drive thru that city again.

This time, screw the beltway - I'll just get on I-85 and go straight thru the heart of the mess and get it over with.

Where in NC? Coming out of San Antonio you could run 10 to 65 up to Montgomery AL then cut cross country to Macon GA . Pick up US 129 north to I20. Can you tell I used to drive a truck?

Came to about 10" here in philly but the drifts are really deep, leaving other parts bare. Wind is gusting somewhere around 40mph right now, pretty nasty!

It's weird up here, too. Sounds the same. I had driveways that were bare but the sidewalks had 2+ feet and vice versa. Only got stuck once.

I've got a leak somewhere in my airbag system on the front. Goes from 90 psi to 10, fist clearance to finger clearance, in about an hour. I can't hear any hissing, though. I suppose I can take some soapy water to the lines and the bags and hope leak isn't somewhere where the lines are tucked into the frame or trailing arm tubes.

Lots of snow: as Joe Soucheray (Garage Logic) of 1500ESPN in Minneapolis would say: "More proof of global warming"

I'm surprised it doesn't kick the compressor in and charge it back up

No problemo, deeewd! I had enough of that last year down here in Virginia.

It's a manual system with a fill stem on the front bumper. Usually I fill it up and it's good for the winter. If I wasn't a cheap SOB and sprang for the onboard compressor I could milk it until things warm up.
