Yes, the "let's trade our kids for oil" view has been decidedly underrepresented.

Thumbs up *** He hath returneth from his travels!!! ***

Sir: You're back!!! I had hope it would have been sooner...but I suppose "something" had to change first! And to top it off, I had predicted your return way too soon.

No one collected any cash...so next time (if ever) I owe someone, somewhere, a beer or three.

I look forward to your enticements of debate with the "other side" - and I, now, have a better understanding of what may have driven you away.

It's hard to take a licking and then you see the "faves" get off with nothing. You were the better man in all of it in the way you handled it. I hope that I can learn from the "pro."

Again, the "second coming" will, hopefully, usher in a more "fair and balanced" lay of the language.

Either that, or a wholesale slaughter of reason.

If you bothered to read the posts of others (which I understand is difficult and time consuming), you'll find out exactly why the Botanist departed.

So, there is no "may have", unless you're trying to be politically correct............something that really doesn't fit your personality.

I wouldn't have commented if I hadn't...

Yes Brian, I'm trying to be PC...which, I understand, is a concept that should be foreign to someone of my backround and religious/political bent. But, sometimes, I chose to fiendishly hide my true motives and sometimes, but not always, it helps to win a hand or two at poker. I've been told some of the more "intuitive" poker players don't like playing the game if I'm in it. I guess that some folks don't quite have the all-knowing body-language thing down as well as they seem to think they do. But, they sure do know how to throw out disparaging remarks, though.

That's a clue that I'm winning...and generally...I do.

But, thanks for noticing...

Don't do it on my account. The Botanist left because of too much moderation. Doesn't take a genius to read and understand his statement. I accept it. I have no apologies.

Time will tell whether the new benevolent attitude will be preferable.

If you'd been observant, you'd have seen that the disinterest isn't confined to Americans, French are pretty much that way about anything that isn't French. And that's OK with me since you can go anywhere in the country and even the smallest village will have two or three boulangerie with croissants and baguettes fresh from the oven at 6:30am.

I say: "Let them be French!"
