download movies onto iPod Touch..??

I bought my son an iPod Touch for Christmas. We downloaded some games from iTunes website but I was told I could download some movies for free from a website. Anyone know about it?

I'm sure you can find "free" movies on the web someplace. There are questions of legality and security, depending where you find them.

Regarding the ipod touch; you can transfer movies or videos from itunes (purchased, rented, or copied), you can watch youtube directly, and you download plenty of video podcasts for free. What type of content are you looking for? Do you have a wi-fi network at home?

There are utility programs, like Handbrake which is freeware, that will rip and reformat video for the iPhone/Touch/iPod Video.

Handbrake is my favorite ripping software, I currently have almost 2TB of my DVDs ripped onto an external hard drive in apple TV format. It wasn't clear how deep into this the OP wanted to get.

The internet/WiFi situation at home is screwed up right now. I was going to take my son to a WiFi spot to see what we can come up with.

Looking for kids movies to download. My son is 7.

As a start, look for some kid stuff to watch on YouTube and go to iTunes and look for video podcasts for kids. If you own some DVDs you want to rip, we can give you some help.

Actually, he has quite a few DVD's that he would be happy with on the iPod. I can rip them onto the computer and then transfer to iPod?

Yes, but you have to get around the copy protection to copy them. My favorite ripping software is Handbrake, which is free and available for both macs and PCs. I'm pretty familiar with the process on a Mac, but I think it's similar on a PC. What type of computer do you use?

Ahhh my friend, you are asking a question that "has" an answer but is not particularly smiled upon.

You can buy movies directly from iTunes. You can also "rip" movies using Handbrake. Both of these are perfectly allowed and will not get you into any civil litigation problems. *2 for handbrake. Great program.

You can also "download" movies from certain websites using a torrent of data. Much like a water fall. This waterfall can lead you to a bay of pirates or a green demon if you can get an invite.

Personally I like the micro torrent better than the official one. It's all up to choice. I suggest you do a bit of searching around for how to do this and the legal/moral implications of such.
