CNN poll: Most admired man and woman

I read with interest this morning that Obama is the most admired man in the us with 22% of the vote. All others listed were in single digits.

Hillary Clinton was most admired woman in The us with 17% of the vote. Second was Sarah Palin with 12 or 14%, with all others in single digits.

I was feeling ok with it all til I say Palin running such a close second. How does that fit with the other results?

Fits in perfectly - all three are career politicians.

And says loads about the low expectations most in this country have when those three are the most admired.

Being a CNN poll, the first two don't surprise me a bit. My guess is that Palin is third because the poll is/was being "FReeped."

Free Republic is a conservative forum, the Democratic Underground is a liberal forum. Anytime there is a poll posted on a media site, a thread gets started notifying members. Members from each site will vote repeatedly, en masse, to skew the numbers in the direction they want them to go. That's why I tend to take any Internet poll numbers with a grain of salt.

Was that an internet poll? I did not see that if it was.

It's unfortunate that Palin got votes from anyone outside her family, but her popularity is not surprising. For whatever reason, many people like Palin's smug, disrespectful style. In their eyes, Palin's lack of integrity is irrelevant. For them, it's all about who supports their team. We can only hope that Palin's popularity is limited to that small group of people.

Actually I didn't check to see. I assumed that it was if Palin came in second behind Clinton (for women) in a CNN poll. Yes, I know what happens when I ASS-U-ME.

A CNN poll holds as much water as a colander. As do the Fox polls.

While I'm no fan of hers, those many people doubt the integrity of any politician so hers (or lack thereof) doesn't factor in. It's the "disrespect" of what they view as the establishment and polished, career politicians that appeals to them.

I understand why that sells in the trailer park, but the RNC needs to figure out how to get the crazies back on the reservation before 2012.

I don't know, the Tea Party appeal has been broader than I expected. I see a surprising number of Gadsden flags on cars and flying from houses in upper-middle-class Blue State suburbia. Not prevalent, mind you, but certainly more than I would expect to see around here.

And I'm not sure any of the true Tea Partiers have any desire to play nice with the RNC, which bodes well for the DNC.

I agree, if the RNC can't kill this off, or at least contain it, they will have what amounts to a third party within their own party. I think it will be obvious who's in control when they start looking for a 2012 candidate; if they end up nominating a crazy, they are toast.
