Door to Door Beef

Some guy just came up trying to sell me a box of beef. I know times are hard and I don't want to blow his cover, but man, did I ever feel like he was trying to pull a fast one.

Several years ago, there were some guys that went door to door selling steaks. They were shrink wrapped and frozen. I bought 1/2 of a box. It was OK steak. I didn't compare to what it would have cost me at a Super market. I saw them a few years latter, and was tempted to buy some more. I could see someone who raises beef locally doing that. I do see signs for beef, eggs, honey, etc. even goats milk around here. There are the asorted vegtable stands, farmer markets and larger produce places. I do buy from them. Especially watermellon.

There used to be a guy doing that around here not too long ago.....I generally have reservations buying meat from a guy with a freezer plugged into a power inverter sitting in his junky pickup.

The ones I bought from, I think it was out of a trunk of a car. The last time I saw them, I remeber they had a smaller delivery truck or pickup, with a refriderated box. Looked professional.

We buy our pork, steak, and poultry from a local butcher and farmer business.

We get a couple of people together to get a bulk purchase of grass fed, free-range, hippy animals.

The meat is always pretty good

I have a friend that does that for a living, he makes big$$$$ they try to sell you a case of meat for $150 they actually pay 35-40 per case. I don't care much for the steaks, but the pork, chicken and chuck roasts are great. I print him some brochures for a case. Works for me.

One of those outfits had a distribution in the same complex where I worked years ago. It was full of young, fast talking, ambitious guys looking to make a quick buck. The trucks were always racing in and out of there.

I believe it was called "Country Fed Meats"...
