Wireless backup cameras
Thinking about getting one for my FG. The one on my Bird is getting long in the tooth also so it could probably use replacing. What are people using? How far does the signal reach. From the reviews I read on Amazon, some are having problems with signal strength even in a crew cab truck. In both those vehicles, I'd probably also want to keep it on when I'm driving, not just when I'm backing up. Is that a problem with these systems? Opinions?

I use a wired one. its not that difficult to run the wire underneath the body and I have had to replace the camara 3 times because of the rainy season here. each time I just reused the wire. all were "waterproof" camaras

I's like to have one on my travel trailer. What brand of wired unit do you recommend if I don't go with wireless? How do the prices compared between wired and wireless?

On amazon you can find units of comparable price wired or wireless. JC Whitney has a 2.5 inch Peak wireless on sale right now for $60. Amazon price is just a little higher. I think I'd prefer at least a 3.5" monitor.

I run my BUP camara through my Pioneer Avic Z2, it has a 7" monitor and auto reverse sensing. I tried wireless for the back of my 24 foot trailer but with the 19 foot excursion and 24 foot box it was not working. I want to eventually put one inside the trailer as a constant monitor during travel, and one the rear for backup, but i havent figured out the logistics of it yet. Likely I will "T" the two backups so I can switch when pulling the trailer and the inside will be on a AVin port

How far do you think wireless might work? I've got about 20' on my FG and 34 on my Wanderlodge. The Wanderlodge already has a camera and monitor so in that case I might be able to use the existing video cable.

mine worked on the bumper of the excursion but not much farther. the new ones are supposed to go farther but after the house wireless and the BUPwireless both fell short I dont trust the adverts anymore
