Duplicate Title

I just ran an autocheck on a 1987 300SDL and it shows an entry in 1/29/2010 "Duplicate Title" in FL, then on 6/1/2010 if shows title registration in Louisville KY. Is this something to be concerned about - the car is for sale in KY and said to be one owner car bought and svcd at Lou MB dealer, but shows registration in FL starting back in 1999 (orig registration as in Lou. Ky in 1996). I plan to ask the seller about this - maybe was a "second home car" but wanted to be more informed about the duplicate title. Also very concerned about the miles showing 106K in 2000 and now showing 113K - obviously will be expecting to see service history and get PPI...

Thanks

Your autocheck goes no further back than 1996?? For a 1987 car?
When I bought my 88 300CE in 2001, the carfax went back to the 1988 delivery purchase in NYC. Then a few years later it showed up in FL. Then around 2000-2001, it was sold at auction, and the title changes hands twice. It had 41,000 miles on it and I believe the reading to be accurate. The condition of the car supported that belief.
I think mine was a FL car that the original owner took to FL from New York and only used when there.

Of note: my odometer broke about 5 years ago and I had a replacement put in. An indy shop replaced it and put the old reading on the replacement. I do have a service record showing an oil change reading soon before the date of the replacement. I think I "lost" about 200 miles or so.
