Why Can't Johhny Read? (in WI)

Dept of Education stats indicate:

Two-thirds of the eighth graders in Wisconsin public schools cannot read proficiently according to the U.S. Department of Education, despite the fact that Wisconsin spends more per pupil in its public schools than any other state in the Midwest.

And these are the same bozo taechers ranting in the street? Seems like they s/b back in the calssroom, doing what they are paid to do, instead of taking fake sick days i/o to relive the 60s.

What's your point? Many studies blame the parents, not the teachers, for a lack of education.

Schools that taxes pay for, are responsible for educating children, teachers are the deliverers of that education. So, are you saying that all children should be home schooled?

What's your point? Are Wisconsin public schools not supposed to teach students to read? Especially by the time they reach 8th grade AND they're being paid to do so? Earth to Chas.

Of course I'm not saying that. Apparently you're not aware of the larger issues in education. Nice strawman though.

More money dumped doesn't equal better results. How predictable. Maybe it is the lack of consequence that drives, or more appropriately does not drive the students to excel.

So, your point is to close the public schools in Wisconsin. Earth to Chas.

Nope. My point is you're wrong. Again a nice strawman.

your article seems a little skewed and is mostly a sympathetic point for why the poor teachers cant teach...

Some students acquired the expected reading skills, why didn't the others? Are they stoopid? Or do parents have other things to do, such as paying for healthcare/insurance, a house, a retirement fund? Which leaves them little time or energy to make sure their kids get an education.

It was the best Strawman Chas could come up with on short notice.

Since he cannot directly controvert your original post.
