When You're Asked the Question

Who is going to shoot Obama? by an audience member at your townhall meeting, this is the response if you're Paul Broun of Georgia

"The thing is, I know there's a lot of frustration with this president. We're going to have an election next year. Hopefully, we'll elect somebody that's going to be a conservative, limited-government president that will take a smaller, who will sign a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare."

I don't follow.

Concerning the Question. Shooting a President, any President isn't really a funny idea. Assuming you are a US Citizen, disagree with him or not, he is still our President. Voted for him or not, he is still your President. You can hate him all day long but he is still your President. If you can't understand that, I can't help you. I disagree with many things that the current and past Presidents say or do but as long as I am a US Citizen, they were and Obama is my President.

As to what the PB said, I'm not sure what the point was. He didn't have a good teleprompter. What of it?

Was never trained to read minds. If you could be less ambiguous about what you are trying to say, perhaps I could see what your point is. Or is this one of those guessing games where you toss out a statement and we try to guess what you are trying to say? I do admit that I am not good at guessing games.

I hope the fellow who asked the question enjoys his next two years of FBI surveillance.

Admitting to not knowing or understanding is a strength, not a weakness.

Someone is going to get a visit from a couple of black suburbans and mean looking guys carrying P90's and wearing suites. Its like Men in Black just not as friendly or comical.

Hope he has fun explaining that little remark to them, they really don't have a sense of humor about such things; and I have a feeling the persons tune might change when there are half a dozen Secret Service agents standing in his living room.

Lee Harvey Redneck might be receiving a free tour of a federal courthouse very soon. I hear that the architecture is very impressive in some of those structures.

It would be funny to watch it happen to him. I won't deny that. Too bad he isn't my neighbor.

I'd love to hear the explanation for that one myself. I always enjoy a good chuckle. If he was reported, I'm sure they are watching him. Seeing as how it is winter now, perhaps a nice sunny vacation to Gitmo might change his disposition. Might be like the timeshare things where they give you a vacation and you just have to sit thru an hour of talking.

I think he was walking away from directly addressing a subtle (at best) threat to the president. That's probably all he could do in that situation. Regarding the guy who asked the question, he may simply have been trying to set him up.... bait that he didn't take.

Threatening any president is serious stuff and shouldn't be tolerated anywhere.

Sad that someone is stupid enough to ask that question. The politician answered neutrally, IMO it dispelled the situation (although I don't know any specifics). The only one in trouble is the numbskull who asked it in the first place. Reminds me of when Barney Frank was asked about Obama being a Nazi

the Secret Service interviewed the constituent who made the comment and "determined that he or she was an 'elderly person' who now regrets making a bad joke."

I find it difficult to laud the efficiency of the interview process when the interviewer couldn't even determine the gender of the interviewee...
