Suicidal bird?
My signature quotes Botnst mentioning that birds rarely become roadkill....
Well said rare event nearly happened to me this morning. From several hundred feet away it looked like a trash bag to be driven around. Closing in on this though one couldn't help but notice that it had a neck....a full sized Canada Goose just standing right on the dotted line watching the cars drive past..... I hit the horn as I went past it but he/she didn't even flinch....

The Canadian geese around here are COMPLETELY oblivious. They are not scared of cars at all. Loud engines, honking, similarly they don't even flinch. I just wait for them to get out of the way around here because I would have run over a dozen by now playing "chicken", they are normally in and around some strip mall areas, not major roads, thankfully.

I regularly need to stop for a local flock that commutes, by walking, from the township ball diamond down the street to a pond about a mile away. The flock does seem to avoid rush hour traffic, but other than that a car causes them no concern.

I see bird roadkill on a daily basis, and have waxed a few dozen myself when it couldn't be avoided. I don't believe they are any less prone to becoming roadkill than any other animal, if not more by their sheer numbers.

run it over, it will strengthen their gene pool. Canadian Geese are a major pain, they should get back to the business of flying and migrating. down here they are propogating a whole new non migrating breed

Don't even get me started on Geese. I have a small lake outside my apartment and it seems to be a migratory stop for Geese most of the year. Those things are so ridiculously loud, its like a chorus of those old squeeze-bulb bike horns out my apartment for hours in the spring and fall. Then the bullfrogs start up.
