Oshkosh H.E.T

Very versatile truck. Built near where I grew up too, I like the steering even on the trailer

Some killer vehicles have came out of the Oshkosh assembly plants in the past 15 years, I applaud their work. Oh, and, a big thanks for the 120v power supply and aux input for an ipod in the MRAP's! Makes running a fridge from the truck possible, and the music keeps the mood lighterish.

OshKosh makes some big, bad@$$ trucks! I've always been fascinated by their snow removal equipment, and have spent hours watching old videos on YouTube.

I'm more a fan of the MTVR, but there are times when a HET just makes things more convenient. After three desert deployments, the only things I haven't done that I really want to are ride in a Huey and drive a HET.

Thats Ft Hood where its video'd . It was known as camp hood when the PO's father bought mine as surplus there and used it for hauling a dozer on a float perhaps in the 50's or 60's. Its getting hauled out of storage--So there will be "another project GM benz has begun". I got the 292 left from the last thread by this name but really want a spare 617 with propain fogged into the intake for that extra..

They're built on the south side of Oshkosh, near the airport...on the east side of it. My home town. Where did you grow up? Ripon, Berlin, Omro, Winneconne, Neenah?

Not far from Basler Turbo Conversions. Ever seen their repowered DC3? . They also are remaking a AC47 "Puff the Magic Dragon" platform that sells to countries for COIN work.

By that you mean always in need of repair, get 6mpg, and have enough armor to save a soldiers ass? Yes, they are known for just that!

I was just writing a CL ad for one.

Saw many of those (and MRAPs) at Al Udeid Air Base last summer heading in. Impressive vehicles!

6? That's impressive. I would have guessed closer to 3.

You mean 3 gal/mile?
In my day we called them "draggin waggins". But I never saw a trailer heavy enough to hold an M88.
These days the M1 tank outweighs an M88 by 15 tons.

Well it was 6 units of measurement to 1 unit of volume, likely gallons... So, 6km per gallon or 6 miles per gallon, no idea. Wasnt overly interested in it, but, i asked how far we went and how much fuel we used (cougar MRAP)
