High Gain Solar
I was looking for a buddy from high school and found out he's working for Skyline Solar:
http://skyline-solar.com/architecture.htm This is the first I've seen of concentrating light onto photovoltaic cells so as to stretch the work done by the silicon, which is the most expensive part. Best in class material utilization: 20x more energy per gram of silicon Skyline replaces most of the silicon found in traditional PV systems with highly reflective mirrors attached to a strong, yet lightweight, frame. Light capture, using mirrors, is separated from energy conversion, using small silicon panels. This architecture dramatically reduces the amount of expensive silicon required.
