I look forward to baseball season......not to watch it on TV, but to listen to it on the radio.
The L.A. Dodgers have the best play-by-play announcer that ever lived: Vin Scully. Has anyone from outside of So. Cal. heard of Vin Scully?

Jon Miller, who does the Giants games on radio, does a better Vin Scully than Vin Scully.
Oh, yeah, I am a life long Baltimore Orioles fan. The swept the Dodgers in 4 games in the '66 series. Last game was Oct. 9...my 21st birthday and I was at the game.

From his Wikipedia page: Scully received the Ford Frick Award from the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982, and was honored with a Life Achievement Emmy Award for sportscasting and induction into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1995. The National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association has named Scully as National Sportscaster of the Year three times (1965, 1978, 1982) and California Sportscaster of the Year 29 times, and inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 1991. He was named both Broadcaster of the Century by the American Sportscasters Association (2000) and top sportscaster of all-time on its Top 50 list (2009).

Baseball being a game of numbers and history, this quote from Francona is great:
Terry Francona was told today that no 0-4 team has ever won the World Series. So what does he think of that? "I guess I would say we’ve got 158 left so I don’t think we’re going to pack it in," he said. |

Life-long Orioles fan here, enjoying the 4-1 start. Best record in baseball since Buck Showalter became the manager last August. ( Hey after so many losing seasons, O's fans have to look for good news where they can find it.
We had Jon Miller here for about 10 years. GREAT radio broadcaster. Chuck Thompson was the voice of the O's for 30 years or so, also a great radio personality.
