Please put the word "music" in quotes when referring to this genre.

When I grew up (in the country) I hated country music, its all I heard. When I moved to the city 8 years ago my attitude slowly changed and now I love it. I relate more to country music more then I ever did to the heavy metal I liked in high school... I think its part of getting older, songs about good friends become more important then songs about sticking it to the man.

This is going to sound weird, but....

Sometime in the 80's I was working in downtown Dallas. I went out for lunch and when I came back there was a group of women playing music on the street corner. This was outside what was then called the Interfirst Tower or something. It is the 52 story building with the lit up X's on the side where J. R. Ewing was supposed to have had his office.

The ladies were really good, and I threw two dollars into the guitar case. I stood there with a small crowd and when they finished the number one of them yelled out....

"Thank y'all! We're the Dixie Chicks!"

They then started playing in clubs, started making records and stopped doing street performances. I don't know where they all wound up, but one of them lives in a multi-million dollar home in Austin, Texas. I think the others still live in Dallas or Highland Park.

So I can say I have been to a Dixie Chick's concert, and it only cost me two dollars.

So you must love Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. Never going for popularity, always did what tehy thought was best for the country. Yep, that's just the Dixie Chicks. Dogmatic despite reality.

The wit & wisdom of

Former Vice President Richard Cheney

"Go f*ck yourself."

"My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators."

"I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency."

"There are a lot of lessons we want to learn out of this process in terms of what works. I think we are in fact on our way to getting on top of the whole Katrina exercise."

"I had other priorities in the sixties than military service."

Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld

"We know where they are [Iraqi WMDs]. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat."

"I believe what I said yesterday. I don't know what I said, but I know what I think, and, well, I assume it's what I said."

"It is unknowable how long that conflict [the war in Iraq] will last. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months."

IMO, dick and don always decided what was best for dick and don; then they gave their instructions to the shrub.

Anyone got anymore troll snacks?

I like real country music. Modern country isn't country. It's crossover schlock, country music for people who don't like country music. Dixie Chicks included by the way. (Although I did like "Goodbye Earl")

It is sad that they were a headlining act for only 21 years.

It will be interesting to see if their new album sells as good as their last one, which sold only 560,000 copies during the first week.

Of course, anyone who goes from making $3,000,000 a week to $1,000,000 is going to suffer some loss in their personal lives, but hopefully they will find the strength to overcome these terrible times.

I like the Eagles very much. I did not realize they are considered country. I know pretty much nothing about the dixie chicks.

I am not sure what all the big todo is about them exercising their freedom of speech just because they happened to be in England at the time.

Bush took us into a very questionable war on faked and blown up "evidence". Lots of Americans disagreed with him.

As Arlo Gutherie used to say..."That's America!";)
