addiction of a partner

A member on another forum used this term:

"addiction of a partner"

I had no clue what it meant and I was accused of being 'thick as a brick'. Has anyone else head of this term? It was used as a reference to heroin addiction. I even looked up the term and found various addiction references but nothing specific.

I just want to know if I am that far out of touch or that I am not alone.

I would assume it means that someone's "partner" (as in "life partner") has an addiction. Does that make sense in context?

I know a woman who is on her 6th husband. 1 died, 4 divorced. I'd say she was addicted to (having) a partner.

Unhappy cigarettes !!! visions of oxygen bottles and hospital beds and coughing

I recently just parted company with a woman seriously addicted to nicotine.

She was almst a nonstop chain smoker. Her clothes, house, car, reeked of it.

I was almost knocked out every time when the front door opened. Her leather coats were horrible at the movies.

She tried unsuccessfully and said she would do it for me. (But I NEVER asked her to). I had to forbid smoking in my home, and of course my cars, especially the Mercedes, as Judeges would automatically disqualify it if they ever opened a door and smelled smoke

It was too bad, she was pretty sexy for 66 and in most all other respects we got along really well.

C'est la vie I guess.

etc.

No. Seems he was talking about his heroin addiction. s in heroin was his life partner , hard to kick .... etc.

Not sure how the heck I was supposed to know that given that I do not know a damn thing about him other than he is hard core libertarian and we do nt see eye to eye on nearly anything.

I've heard most of the drug lingo, but not that one.

Analogous to JJ Cale's song "Cocaine":

If you wanna hang out
You've gotta take her out
Cocaine
If you wanna get down
Down on the ground
Cocaine

Sounds like a drug addict, making up terms.

I thought the term was 'Monkey on my back'. At least that is what folks said in the 50's.

Oh, these kids today with their long hair and loud music......
