Toyota's in warzones...

http://www.newsweek.com/photo/2010/10/14/toyota-trucks.html

Its the AK47 of trucks, can't be a respectable freedom fighter without one!

My friend had an 87 inn HS, couldn't kill it. Never changed the oil, spark plug wires arcing everywhere, but it always ran.

toyotas are over rated.

When clarkson & his mob did the story on one, that ended what little respect I had for them. Nothing more than a toy for the young yuppies trying to be "Man from Snowy River". Sorry about the Australian eXplanation.

This is an AK47 of trucks !!

they are NOT freedom fighters. They are terrorists.

Other than that you are correct. They are the staff car for the sand box terrorists.

^^^^^ "AK47's sold separately". <------- lol @ THAT.

But that Osama Bin Laden the Chief of Staff of the terroriwsts, and his chief deputy, Mohammad Al-Shopliftah, probably rode around in a chauffered Land Cruiser though.

Are the individuals not worried about their safety? Where are the seat belts? Wonder if the air bags are operable? Where are the ambulance chasing lawyers?

It is a shame the US gov't won't take note and realize that cars can be operated safely without these devices that add weight and cost to vehicles. For my everyday automotive needs I can get by with a four wheeler but I can't legally go into town with it. It goes a long way on a gallon of fuel.

Jim,
You are lucky with your 4wheelers. Over here they are trying to mandate roll over protection on them.

Its just money !!
Problem is the US$ is weak & the AUS$ is strong. I guess the Taliban will need to sell some extra heroin to pay for them.

It definitely beats a hummer !!

As your leader says, best take a gun to a knife fight.
I would rather be in one of those bushies than a beat up hilux !!

Just like hattie would rather a AK47 than a 9mm !!

On post overseas, they're a main stable of contracted lease vehicles. Invoice price paid (that my eyes fell across) was $7500 per month, per vehicle, maintenance extra...

They were in much better shape then the ones pictured though...

Yes at almost $600,000 a piece a few hundred old pickups with a heavy machine or missle launchers would be much more cost effective. (At the least the Toyota could probably hide/be concealed much more easily.)

not to mention the cost to shoot missiles at the multitude of targets. Its the cockroach approach. some will always get through
