Any Bluegrass afficionados?
Well, I just picked up a new toy off Ebay, so as a way of showin' it off I thought I would find out if any if ya are into Bluegrass?
So are there any fans out there? Any pickers and grinners, or pros? What instruments do y'all play? Post any good stories, pix, etc. Here's my new 'jo. Pretty obvious I'm a banjo picker (maybe 'wannabe' is a better description ) Pic doesn't really do it justice, but all I got is the camera on my phone. It's a Tyler Mountain TM5-95, and it shure is a purty thang!

I like good banjo music. It leaves other popular music for dead.
This has to be a piece that put them on the map !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uzae_SqbmDE&NR=1

In my late teens I played banjo a bit, mostly unsuccessfully. I had a cheapo Rogue. It's a fun instrument for sure.. but I'm trying out guitar (acoustic) this summer

I hope someday I might be good enough to do justice to songs like that!

Personally, I couldnt give a #### what a song is connected to by the masses. If I like the tune, thats what counts!! There have been many great musos over the years that have come from politically incorrect backgrounds. Fortunately, there are enough people in the world who judge them for who they are & not where they come from.

There's a local band here that is just completely off the wall! You'll have to forgive my computer ignorance, but I haven't figured out how to post a link. But the name of the band is 'Larry And His Flask'. If anyone is curious enough, you can check 'em out on Youtube, and try to figure out just What the hell to call their particular genre! I think they are great and may have a shot at the big time. Refreshingly different!

One more comment before I crack open 1 more cold one and lose my train of thought...
I have, on a few thankfully rare occasions, run across people who don't just dislike banjo music, but seem to be opposed to the banjo on some deep, fundamental level; all because a few short minutes in 1 movie made over 35 tears ago. makes ya wonder who the real hillbillies are!

Cool thing about Jerry Garcia...a lot of people don't realize he started out as a Bluegrass banjo picker. Probably could have gone far with it if the '60s hadn't changed things around a bit.
